When I say "new", I mean some very superior episodes that were made before Jeremy Brett passed away right at his prime. He was just the PERFECT Sherlock Holmes....and his sidekick, Dr. Watson was aptly cast, also.
If you ever read some biographies of Brett, hold on to your deer-hunting hat. Amazing stuff. It's said his bi-sexuality and bi-polarism made him such an ideal actor to play the brilliant, drug-addicted, moody, hyper, introverted/extroverted character that was Holmes.
I just don't hit the theaters any more. I don't even know anyone above the age of 30 who "goes to the show".
I satisfy my lust for cinema by combing through the molding entrails of yesterday's golden ages that are on TV and DVD's.....happily finding hidden treasures from when movies were movies.....and then I lie gracefully on my divan while I merge into another world, another time, another adventure, another romance, no Jennifer Aniston, no Justin Timberlake, aaargh......and all the while eating my own double-buttered popcorn out of a diamond-encrusted bowl.
