Only in the state of Massachusetts could blaming the victim be extended to burglaries. Once again, the gun-grabbing fear mongers in charge of our state are looking to set a precedent that will no doubt have national implications.
If this case goes to trial and Stanley Sokolowski is convicted, there will now be case law on the books that other judges can cite: The common act of reloading your own ammunition and the possession of the needed (and Constitutionally protected) supplies will be akin to domestic terrorism.
The following email was sent to us by our good friend, and former candidate for Massachusetts State Auditor, Kamal Jain.
In January, a home in Lowell belonging to Stanley Sokolowski was broken into, his home firearms storage vault broken into, and all his stored firearms and other items stolen. After the crime was reported, the Lowell Police Department filed charges against the victim!
A couple of days ago I had breakfast with Stan, to discuss his situation.
Let me cut to the chase: I am working to setup a legal defense fund for Stan. We need to help him. Please stay tuned and/or contact me at kamal@kamaljain.com if you can help.
Ive spoken with Jim Wallace at GOAL. GOAL is going to provide some attorney references. Stan got some names of attorneys already; he will speak with all of them. This is going to cost a fair amount of money to fight.
The Lowell Police are not being forthcoming with information about how many guns have been recovered, though Stans assistance led to the arrest of the thief. In fact, the Lowell Police Department revoked Stans license to carry,

nope. but they interpret them how ever they want, and charge you with half a dozen crimes, most of which only vaguely resemble whatever you did, and some of which are assumed.
all 2000 of them.
“Do the police write the laws?”
Perhaps you can cite the law they are enforcing?
What law are they enforcing?
Please be specific.
Thank Satan. That's his turf.
Obviously the law against citizens having the right to keep and bear arms. They're MA police after all.
Crim, and Red in Blue... I can't cite the law because I don't live in Ma. and I don't know their laws and there is always more to a story than the press gives you.
absolootezer0... bringing charges is the job of the DA not the police. The DA is an elected official. Don't like the way he runs things, vote him out. The appeals court comes in here as well.
Everyone... I don't like the sound of this any more than you do but a knee jerk reaction of hatred against the police is unworthy of you.
Knee jerk?
The police are sh%#ing on the 2A and you say we are having knee jerk reactions?
Your question is a non sequitor. Why should I answer it. And FYI The Nuremburg trials established the fact the "just carrying out orders." does not give people moral exemption from what they do even ignoring the wide lattitude that the police have in creatively applying charges
Yes, knee jerk. Look at any article on FR concerning the police and within 10 posts you will see reactions like the ones here. The police have no power that isn't given them by the people. Don't like things? Then change them! The reactions here are more like an Anarchists than folks who respect the rule of law.
BTW, look at my posting history. I'm no defender of excessive police action. Too many folks here post without thinking first.
I wonder if it will ever dawn on these dweebs that gunpowder in a propellant not an explosive?
Over my dead corpse...
i’m referring most specifically to a cop that catches them in the commission of a crime.
but in coming after someone after the fact, the way i’ve seen it happen is the cop still gets to pick and choose what all he arrests the guy for, and later the prosecuting attorney choses which charges he actually pursues.
“I wonder if it will ever dawn on these dweebs that gunpowder in a propellant not an explosive?”
NO. The fact that in the plastic bottle it does not explode but simply burns will be denied by the DA.
Dummies.
FReepers are tired of cops who abuse citizens. Ignorance of the law is not a defense for civilians but it is for cops.
This guy is going to have a monstrous legal bill because a cop and a DA doesn’t know squat about primers, powder or cartridges.
I called my local fire dept five years ago or so and asked the asst. Chief if there was any restrictions on the amount of primers, powder or cartridges I would be permitted to store in my home. His response, “Why do you ask? Should there be?”
An even worse scenario is this guy could have filed a complaint against one of their fellow officers — THAT really sets off the harassment machine.
I escaped MA last year and some of the things I found out about the small town I lived in could turn your hair white.
Had a fireman once tell me that all gun components should be fire code violations.
>I escaped MA last year and some of the things I found out about the small town I lived in could turn your hair white.
I’d like to hear one such story.
I am a strong believer in the right to keep and bear arms, but I think in any situation like with this woman you could try a little harder.
