Howard Dean suggests Dems score political points with govt shutdown
By Rachel Rose Hartman Tue Mar 29, 4:11 pm ET
Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean just handed Republicans some ammunition in the fight over the federal budget.
Dean told the audience at the National Journal Insiders Conference Tuesday morning that Democrats ought to play politics with a government shutdown. "I wouldn't like a shutdown from a statesman-like point of view. But if I was head of the DNC, I would be quietly rooting for it," Dean said provoking some laughter from those gathered at the event.
"From a partisan point of view, I think it would be the best thing in the world to have a shutdown," Dean said, explaining that a shutdown might anger tea party voters concerned about Social Security and other federal benefits and they will, in turn, blame the GOP.

Ah, yes. All us democrats secretly snigger and take pleasure in a government shutdown - isn’t this fun. The MSM and Dems are all one big, happy family.
If there is anything that has disgusted me over the past few years, it has been the way the media is merely an extension of the Democrat Party. It’s like living in the USSR.
Well, there's certainly no chance of Dean having a statesman-like point of view, but since he goes on to relish the thought, does this mean he's hoping America will fail? Somebody call Rush...
"I always use extreme," Schumer said.

Budget Talks Sour, Dems Blame Tea Party for Stalemate as Deadline Looms
That's another front in the cold civil war. I'm no scholar of FCC regs, but I truly wonder just how fast and loose the lamestream media types are playing with the rules that govern them. The Left beats us over the head with the likes of the Fairness Doctrine and Net Neutrality, and our dull-eyed RINO castrati just sit there and take it for the most part, but you can bet that if we even considered going after them on Constitutional grounds, it would be a First Amendment can o' worms that nobody in our current political environment would have the guts to open. (Not that they have the guts to do anything else but bend over and grab ankles, it seems.) Just imagine the shrieking and wailing that would ensue if they got called on the carpet in front of Congress, or whatever federal appendage of dubious usefulness that would address it - they're already apoplectic that we're trying to pry NPR off the public teat. As long as the likes of CPAC, the RNC, and K Street control the agenda, we're going to get more of the same. It's going to take some very distasteful guerrilla tactics - the same as the Left has used for two decades - to break the domestic stranglehold, and I'm open to ideas. The Tea Party is a start, but it's not going to be our political or social Alpha and Omega, only a cannon in the arsenal.
EXACTLY why the Republicans have to be out there day after day and say over and over again that we are in this budget mess because the Democrats didn’t want to deal with it during an election year so they ran away from it! The Dems knew the Republicans wouldn’t whine a lot about it so it was a win/win for them to not finish it on time last year.
If the Dems won congress again, they come back and finish/pass the budget. If the Republicans won congress they’d pat themselves on the back and blame all the budget woes on the Republicans even thought it was the Democrats who got us in this mess.
And, once again, we have the Republicans helping them out by very meekly pointing out to the press that it’s not the Republicans fault.
Good golly. Can we get some freaking leadership for once?
Dean’s trolling the left while Graham’s trolling the right. Both drama queens seem to need attention. Both know that the powers-that-be wil never shutdown government. Shutdown governemnt? ROTFLMAO
If the Dems win Congress again they will finish off the USA in 1 year. I hope it shuts down and does not open for the next two.
Whiglicans. Going the way of the Whigs.

And should be posted as such in places such as google groups news / politics
I am rooting for it.

The moron doesn’t know what the Tea Party is all about. The Tea Party will through a party if the government shuts down. As for SS, the checks will still role...so I’m guessing he’s ignorant about that or thinks that the Tea Party doesn’t know this information.
Dean is just showing how out of touch dems are these days. They have the same ole playbook...but the game has changed.
The dems have already started putting their strategy to work. Note their attempts to sever the establishment GOPers away from the Tea Party? Heard a FoxNews report yesterday the dems were “close” to closing a deal on budget cuts but pulled back because Tea Party reps had “overreached” and caused the “deal” to fall through. So they`re setting their narrative.. that the Tea Party is going to “own” the government shutdown.
And, of course the dems` pet reporters will eagerly lap it up and dutifully follow their Party`s directives to get to work with the propaganda blitz.
What a scumbag.
Let the 'Rats keep thinking this way. There happens to be a tremendous difference between then and now in the way information gets communicated. It's a whole lot harder for the RCM ('Rat Communication Machine, better known as the legacy media) to convey the spin like they did in 1994.
