I use a little sound making device at night that is louder than the ear noise and that blots it out.
That could be your problem..............
I have had this as long as I can remember. I have had none of the things listed as possible triggers. We used to live near a major highway and it sounded like a big truck coming but I noticed that the truck never passed on by. LOL!
