I hate to break this to you, but the Saudis have been buying influence in oir government and pulling the strings of our foreign policy in the Middle East for more than two decades.

I know this is a shibboleth, but what have the Saudis gotten for their money that they wouldn't otherwise have?

How about Saddam Hussein's Ba'athist government removed in Iraq -- at a cost of thousands of U.S. lives and hundreds of billions of our tax dollars.

I mean, do you really think the U.S. would have had any interest in a decades-long military campaign against Iraq if the Saudis didn't need protection?
