TRIPOLI, Libya – A defiant Moammar Gadhafi vowed a "long war" after the U.S. and European militaries blasted his forces with airstrikes and over 100 cruise missiles early Sunday, hitting air defenses and at least two major air bases and shaking the Libyan capital with explosions and anti-aircraft fire.
Despite the strikes, Gadhafi's troops lashed back, bombarding the rebel-held city of Misrata with artillery and tanks on Sunday, the opposition reported.
Gadhafi vowed to fight on. In a phone call to Libyan state television, he said he would not let up on Benghazi and said the government had opened up weapons depots to all Libyans, who were now armed with "automatic weapons, mortars and bombs." State television said Gadhafi's supporters were converging on airports as human shields.
"We promise you a long war," he said. He called the international assault "simply a colonial crusader aggression that may ignite another large-scale crusader war."

and then what?
Exactly, anybody who thinks we can just take out Kadaffy and walk away, isn’t playing with a full deck.
We have already committed ourselves to having boots on the ground for the next 5-10 years. Most of the headaches will have to be dealt with by Obama’s replacement.

Notice I mentioned that my idea would never happen with this klutz in the White House.
Also, my idea is just an expanded use of force that Reagan executed upon Libya which effectively neutered Khadaffi for more than two decades.
Outside his own arena, Khadaffi is nothing but a nuisance and should be summarily squashed.

There is no then what? Khadafi killed Americans, the penalty for that should be death. Better late than never.
Can’t Baraq make him a “special WH advisor on Arab American relations” or something to get him out of power?
The “then what” is a power vacuum which will be filled by Islamists/al-Qaeda
Not sure what you are advoctaing.
His entire foreign policy, domestic policy and economic policy is centered around this theme. It all ties into his "religious" beliefs.
