Irving woman appeals to Washington to avert deportation

IRVING, Texas - A young woman raised in North Texas now faces deportation to Mexico, to the same city where an American immigration agent was murdered.

Twenty-year-old Olga Zanella was brought to the country illegally by her parents when she was a young child.

“I was a baby when I came over here. I was 6 years old,” she said.

She graduated from an Irving high school and has been taking classes to become a dental hygienist.

She does not have a criminal record, but started having trouble with the Department of Homeland Security in February 2009 after being pulled over for a traffic violation.

“That’s when they asked me to get off and that’s when they handcuffed me,” Zanella said.

She was arrested for driving without a license. She admits she never tried to get a Texas driver’s license because of her illegal entry into the county.

Zanella spent three days in an Irving jail cell before police turned her over to immigration authorities. They released her on bond and she went back home.

“That was the first time I saw my dad cry,” she said.

Zanella admits that before her arrest neither she nor her parents tried to become legal residents of the United States. But for the past two years she’s been trying to do what is needed to remain in the country.

She’s gone through a series of court hearings and legal complications. She has exhausted her case appeals and now she faces a very uncertain future.

She faces deportation to San Luis Potosi, a Mexican city with a violent reputation following the death of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata at the hands of drug cartel gang members. She will live with distant relatives that she’s never met.

In related content The Wrongful Detention of Olga Zanella Being young and inexperienced and facing deportation to Mexico will put Olga's life at risk. However, if allowed to stay, not only she will be safe, she could take advantage of opportunities being offered by supporters who have learned about her case. She has only herslf to blame. When you drive without a license and insurance you are breaking the law it at last caught up with her. Wonder why the parents are not being deported ? They do admit to coming here, illegally. She will live with distant relatives that she’s never met.I ask how are the distant relatives staying alive but she cannot ?

The whole family should be deported----these invaders are a huge pain in the rear.

By their very presence, illegals evince an utter contempt for America, Americans and our laws. These people want privileges ....not just rights.

The US rule of law is what distinguishes America from Third world hellholes like Mexico.

We do not need, nor do we want on US soil, those who are all too willing to destroy Western civilization, and our democracy, for their own self-serving ends.

so in summary, her parents knew they were illegal, had no interest in becoming citizens, she knew she was illegal, so now it is time to go home to mexico. They need dentists too, and if she is uphappy, she only has her family to blame.

So she doesn’t have any interest in becoming a citizen until caught driving without a license (and no insurance either no doubt)?

My heart weeps for her tragedy.

I’m sure it will continue to weep for her back on her side of the border.

Her parents were at fault. Not me not you.
They were also in our country illegally.
Send them back with her.
America is not free lunch for anyone.
Even it’s legal citizens.

I just came back from Walmart where one of Olga's fellow Countrywoman was in front of me at the checkout. She filled the conveyor belt up with all sorts of grocery items and even had two beautiful potted plants in the kiddie seat. She handed over her electronic benefits card for the groceries and handed the cashier a crisp $100 bill for the potted plants. I wonder if she could feel my eyes burning holes through her as she waited for her change.

Like no one has ever been murdered in Irving, TX.

Re: "She graduated from an Irving high school and has been taking classes to become a dental hygienist."

And I bet she was paying in-state tuition rates... while American citizens from other states paying out-of-state tuition rates.

Before I found out about E-Verify, I had a young female employee that had given me fake ID’s to work in our call center. During that time, she had a baby. She was caught on her way to work one morning without her DL and jailed and her mother called in sick the two days she was in jail. She finally got out and came to see me and told me what she’d done. And that she was being sent back to Mexico. And I told her she had to tender her resignation or be fired. When she got back, 3 months later, she came back with all of her papers that I was able to verify and I gave her her job back, because she was a very hard working and otherwise very honest, and dependable employee. And she was willing to work full time and was not government dependent. She is now an EMT for a local fire department, and has and always has been as American as you or I. It is sad, what is happening to these children that have been here for years, but if they have every opportunity to do it right.

My point is...they need to go home and do it right. It doesn’t take but about 3 months.

As for San Luis Potosi, my son goes down there about 3 times a year on a church mission to the Bible College there and helps build dormatories for orphanages. He got back from there about 3 weeks ago. Said they knew about the cartel hit while he was there and they were more cautious than usual, but at all times felt secure. The incident happened because the drug cartel mistook the US agents’ SUV to belong to a rival gang.

Here in Victorville, California, there is a Supermarket named Vallarta, that caters to mostly hispanics and asians, a couple of months ago, I went there to buy some fresh fruits and vegetables(comissary’s produce sucks) anyways,at the register, was a female, with two kids, nice clothing and shoes, she paid with the EBT card, the total of $201.00 and requested to get cash back, I thought she is going to use a different card, well she used the same EBT and got back $600.00 her purchase total was of $801.00 on the taxpayer’s dime, I was pissed off, she spoke no english whatsoever, she carried a Matricula Consular(mexican Id card for Illegals) and nice clothing and shoes, well, when it was my turn to pay, my total was $21.00 and I requested to get cash back, using my ATM card from Bank of America, the cashier told me that the limit on cash back was $50.00, FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT!!!my own EARNED MONEY!!. Now i was really mad, and the cashier told me, I am so sorry, but that happens everyday here, I only make $250.00 every week, and cannot even get food stamps, my parents just loose their jobs and are living with me,so anyways, I followed the lady and the kids to see what type of vehicle she was driving, and it was a late model GM vehicle. Could anyone tell me what’s going on with our Country?

I’d be feal interested in how someone got “their papers right” in three months....andwhat kind of papers they got. I would be absolutely surprised at that. What kind of papers does she have now?

I would suggest that charity starts at home. How many Americans or legal residents would jump at a chance like that? Shame on this dentist there are plenty of dental schools in other countries including Mexico.

Ok, she got caught and faces deportation.

It’s now known that the rest of her family
are also illegals, but only the girl
is going to sent back?

Why are they not facing deportation as family unit?
Why aren’t the parents facing the same deal?

I don’t understand.

She faces deportation to San Luis Potosi

I call BS on that.

How can the US deport someone to a specific city? They get sent back to Mexico and can go to any place there they like.

California uses the same card to load cash welfare and food stamps on. The computers at the grocery store can tell the difference, how much cash and how much food stamps are left on the card. She is getting all that, cash and food stamps because her bambinos were born here and are eligible for everything, even of she is an illegal.
I know, it makes me sick too but that is how it is done.
