Mitt Romneys supporters on Capitol Hill are giving him political cover for the healthcare plan he signed into law as governor, even as his competitors for the GOP presidential nomination ramp up their attacks on RomneyCare.
Romneys healthcare reform initiative in Massachusetts is viewed as one of his biggest political liabilities going into the Republican primary, due to its similarities to President Obamas healthcare overhaul.
But leading conservatives, including supporters of Romney during his 2008 presidential run, argue that the Massachusetts plan isnt a deal-breaker.
One of the reasons I endorsed Romney [in 2008] is his attempts to make private health insurance available at affordable prices, said Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.), a GOP kingmaker.

Do we have any Michigians here to tell us firsthand what Romneycare is doing
and how bad it is?

I wonder if the Senator is also waiting for Romney to repudiate his homosexualization of state government and the public schools, his unilateral imposition of sodomite fake marriage, his banning of guns, or his creation of $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions.

I know that we'll have at least three or four Massachusetts conservatives on our
America's Summit call tonight who could give you the lowdown on what's happening up there. I'm the moderator so I can make sure you get a chance to ask. Just speak up at any point and let me know.

Hmmm....quoting Reagan is a malicious lie? Saying I wasn't going to throw DeMint under the bus for one quote or one wrong statement was a malicious lie?
You can't mean what I said about you and your stupid third party, because that wasn't a lie, it was the stone cold truth.

So, you make no income from this third party of yours or from pimping this party, or writing for this party, or from associations with this party? Or do you just call it something else so you can claim you don't......
Give us all a break and just fess up.

Talks a very good game. Not a leader. Amen to that. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have DeMint in the Senate. But he's always struck me as a showboat who talks conservative values but hasn't really advanced a conservative agenda. He has to get in there and make something happen. Its easy to take positions; its harder to advance them.

Obviously you can’t understand that someone could advocate for conservative policies and candidates on principle. It’s beyond your realm of experience. How Republican of you.

None of our national political committees take donations. They’re all 100% volunteer, citizen-led.
Instead, we ask those who want to donate financially to give directly to principled candidates, or to front line conservative activists that they have thoroughly vetted and believe in and who are accountable to them.
If you’ve got a problem with that, it’s you with the problem, not me.

For all you DeMint fans, put THAT in your pipe and smoke it.
The GOP is a lost cause.
It's time to abandon ship and start building another party.
Yes, I DO understand what that means for the 2012 elections. But you have to start somewhere...and with "Republicans" like this, who needs Democrats?
