Fox news saying they left the plant
But at least they’re not looting ...
When they were on 8 hours of Battery, they needed to act as though at the end of the 8 hours, they needed to have the diesel generators working.
Probably 8 hours was too short.
Firefly Energy makes batteries that might possible applied to this case. They are carbon graphite batteries that are lighter and recharge quicker and discharge with a more powerful amount of AMPS.
Give someone 24 hours to fix some diesel generators, and we might not have this mess.
Yes and all they are doing is reading numbers of radiation levels.

They are aren’t saying a damn thing.
Fiddling while Rome burns... probably?
“when does Nikkei open?” They opened a couple of hours ago and it is Up 340 or so. They are on lunch break now will return in about 20 minutes — at the half hour point on your dial. e.nikkei.com (markets)
Water, water everywhere, and not enough pumps to spray.
They need a couple of those 2000 horsepower boiler feed pumps for each reactor that is in trouble.
I'm going down to Costco and lift a case of Heineken. I'll pay for it at the checkstand.
The Nikkei is open right now, and will not close for several hours. Go to yahoo finance, and click on the asian markets. Or, go to marketwatch.com, see for yourself there too.
I was watching fox news earlier, and to get people all worked up, they claimed that Chernobyl killed as many as 1 million people. Only some 200 people were actually killed, or died within months of the event. Afterwards, in the areas, cancer deaths were no more different than other parts of the Soviet Union.
“This news must have come in after Nikkei closed for the day.”
They do a lunch break. I will be shocked if it doesn’t turn sharply around when they start back up shortly.
I think the official said at the beginning of the briefing that they believe the surge in radiation was due to steam (the white smoke) being released with high levels, but now the radiation is down again.
Obama at work during an International Crisis with due diligence on resolving it...
Or maybe you can come up with something better...
The Russians didn’t run. Just say’in....
The original film that is. Without Gregory Peck it would have been unwatchable.... like “Fail Safe”. Dr. Strangelove was a masterpiece.
Agreed, worst possible news, well now we will find out just how good the primary containment vessel is. Sadly there is no containment for the spent fuel rods, so once those start to burn and they will, we are looking at a terrible out come. I am still hoping this news is not true.
But happily this should not affect president Obama's vacation plans.
Japan nuke plant workers stop work due to radiation surge -

FUKUSHIMA, Japan Japan suspended operations to prevent a stricken nuclear plant from melting down Wednesday after a surge in radiation made it too dangerous for workers to remain at the facility.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said work on dousing reactors with water was disrupted by the need to withdraw.
The level of radiation at the plant surged to 1,000 millisieverts early Wednesday before coming down to 800-600 millisieverts. Still, that was far more than the average

“The same can be done here. “
No offense but whatever challenges the authorities are facing a lack of Project Managers likely isn’t one of them.
“Edano just ended news conf - said too much radiation. He also now wants help from US military!
Obama votes “present” (by proxy)...he has a vacation to plan. Worst leader ever.
even cracked, I think there is a sizable containment structure over the fuel that would make it hard to drop concrete. Plus, the radiation to the pilots would be pretty high. Maybe, really long cables?
If the control rods are in place, I don’t think there will be a melt down. If it is, then hopefully containment will contain most of the radiation. Chernobyl melted down and ended as the “elephant foot” formation inside the plant, iirc. It is still lethal radioactively and is hot thermally.
Again, IIRC, but the waste pool should have the fuel cells far enough apart, that if exposed they shouldn’t resume criticality. However, the radiation near the drained pool will be lethal.
There have been comparisons to Cherynobel — was Cherynobel just one nuclear reactor or as many as 4 as located here? Or do you know>
