Unless, of course, it was the newest of the new new fires. If it is the newest of the new old fires then I'm good.
I really hope this whole situation doesn't keep Our Dear Leader from enjoying watching some hoops.
The guy who wrote the article in Japan still has his laptop on EST U.S. time.
This must be why they name hurricanes? If we just had names for the fires, we’d be able to tell them all apart. Since this is MY brilliant idea, I say we name these fires after movie monsters.
I think the movie monster thing also shows some cultural respect, so in honor of that, the next legitimate fire is going to be named Godzilla.
How many nuke sites were involved in Hurricane Katrina?
So that leaves 3 corners of the reactor that haven't caught on fire yet. So we will have breaking news as each one starts to burn?? This is exhausting!

There is nothing on NHK News about any new fire.
Fire breaks out again at Fukushima’s No. 4 reactor: TEPCO
TOKYO, March 16, Kyodo
A fire broke out again early Wednesday at the troubled No. 4 reactor of the quake-hit Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co. said.
Around 5:45 a.m., a worker at the plant saw flames on the fourth floor of the reactor’s building, believed to be the same spot where an apparent hydrogen explosion caused a fire Tuesday morning in the wake of last Friday’s magnitude 9.0 earthquake.
The plant operator said it has reported the incident to firefighters and local governments.
On Tuesday, the utility said water in a pool storing spent nuclear fuel rods at the reactor may be boiling and its level has dropped, exposing the rods, prompting the government to order Tokyo Electric to inject water into the pool ‘’as soon as possible to avert a major nuclear disaster.’’
Unless the spent fuel rods are cooled down, they could be damaged and emit radioactive substances.

Obviously it's a fire that started today, but if it's the first second or third of the day I don't know. I haven't been watching Japan TV since 7am EST and NHK TV (english) has the best and up to date coverage.
Good idea, but not original enough.... what say we name them after OBSCURE japanese movie monsters... The first one could be Gamera or Baragon, or Green Gargantua or something... any takers?

But are there monsters for each letter of the alphabet?

Bernie Lowe on CNBC Asia just reported that the radiation at the Fukushima #4 unit is back in the milli-sieverts range. It had gone down to the micro-sieverts range but now the radiation is rising again.
NO, this is a NEW FIRE...
Tue Mar 15, 2011 6:16pm EDT
(Reuters) - A fire has broken out at the building housing the No.4 reactor of Tokyo Electric Power Co’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, the electric utility said on Wednesday.
Efforts are under way to put out the fire, it said.
A devastating earthquake and tsunami last Friday damaged cooling functions of the plant, forcing the operator to pour seawater into reactors and let out radioactive air into atmosphere to bring down heat and pressure.

Japan rules out choppers to cool down nuke reactor
TOKYO (AP) - The operator of Japan's stricken Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant says it has scrapped a plan to use helicopters to pour water into a reactor whose overheating fuel storage unit was emitting radiation.
The storage pool, used to hold spent nuclear fuel rods, caught fire Tuesday in an alarming escalation of Japan's nuclear crisis. The blaze was extinguished but fears remain that water may boil away and the rods could be dangerously exposed.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. spokesman Hajimi Motojuku said early Wednesday that helicopters were deemed impractical, but that other options were under consideration, including fire engines.
Officials are struggling to address the failure of safety systems at several of the plant's reactors after Friday's massive earthquake and tsunami.
