It is people like you that are getting people riled up.

Yet another display of your ignorance. Show all of the posts. Go ahead. Go find em.

One more time, because you are obviously too dim to get it the first time: You said you want to wait for information. Go some where else and wait.

You don't like it here, and I'm confident that there are a few who don't like you here. Seems straight forward enough, even for you.

It could very well be that every human resource there who knows anything and who might be a worthwhile source of accurate information is working double-time for hours on end with little food and sleep to stay abreast of working the problem.

It is quite likely that people 20 miles away from that reactor know just as much about what is going on as someone sitting in Los Angeles watching the news.

There is a good article in the WSJ's Opinion Journal about the situation with the Japanese reactors.
"Nuclear Overreactions"

The fact that neither containment structure has been breached, after the worst earthquake in recorded Japanese history, and a 10 meter tsunami, is a testament to the hardiness of these reactors. The amount of radiation that has been released has been negligible, notwithstanding the figures released breathlessly by the MSM. The amount recorded has been about what a person would receive in a CT scan, or from eating about 400 bananas in a year. Look up the "Banana Equivalent Dose", to see what I mean by that.

The Fukushima reactors were of the old design, and were going to be taken off-line in the next few years anyway. The Generation III reactors that are coming online will not have the need for cooling water to be pumped in, therefore won't end up with the problems these had, when the electricity to the pumps was cut.

No one is diminishing the horrific loss of life and destruction wrought by the tsunami. Regarding the reactors, however, the true situation as I perceive it based on reading several extremely well-qualified sources, is that while extremely serious, it does not justify the constant reportorial tone of “MELTDOWN! CHERNOBYL! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!” that it is getting from CNN and even Fox, among others.

Please use the correct terminology going forward. Bill Nye is a Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Alteration alarmist.

Think about it.

Perhaps your impression of the coverage is what's overblown.

I have yet to hear "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE". Instead, the reports seem to conclude that the radiation threat to the USA is minimal.

That was at least an order of magnitude worse then the first one. Judging by appearances.

Good point. That’s probably some of the reason.

Thanks. so far, so good. I had a game of chess with Ronin last night, and we are keeping in touch via Skype now. Power outages in my city will start at 6:20pm.

We now also have to worry about damage to reactor #2 from that blast.

The Litany Against Fear

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain

That’s about what I’d reckon as well.

And consider this: being that there are so many reactors and plants there on the coast, there are probably more than a couple of the guys manning those plants now who have lost their homes, possibly their families as well. They can’t leave to look for their loved ones, they probably have no idea what has happened to their homes, or it is a pretty good guess that they no longer have any home.

Those guys keeping a lid on this are going way above and beyond right now.

Given that the Fukushima reactors are NOT going to have a gigantic spread of radiation like what happened at Chernobyl, those folks in the MSM need to have their heads virtually bopped for spreading too many Chicken Little warnings.

Indeed, the nearest equivalent is what happened at Three Mile Island--and even that demonstrated the safety systems DID work since the reactor vessel was never breached even with the damaged fuel rods.
