Ten Republican senators are warning Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that they will block any bills that do not address fiscal issues until the current impasse on spending is resolved.
"While there are many issues that warrant the Senate's consideration, we feel that the Senate must not debate and consider bills at this time that do not affirmatively cut spending," reads a letter signed by the group of 10. "We, therefore, are notifying you of our intention to object to the consideration of any legislation that fails to directly address this crisis in a meaningful way."
The letter was signed by Republican Sens. David Vitter of Louisiana, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, John Ensign of Nevada, Mike Lee of Utah, Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Marco Rubio of Florida, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
Senate rules give individual members the power to block legislation indefinitely to force debate. The letter says that the members will blockade any unrelated bill that comes forward unless Reid dedicates "significant floor time" to the debate over debt and spending.
Reid's office said, "After ignoring jobs for months, Republicans are making it official by vowing to block every bill that creates American jobs."

He's got a nerve. Where was he for the last 27 month? Instead of concentrating on jobs and the other rats shoved the 0bama care down the people's throat. That the majority of people did not want.
I cannot think of any other majority leader ever who was so charmless and implausible in his speech. If he were not Obama’s dog, he would be gone.
How 'bout that Cowboy Poetry Festival?
Good for them and us.
Harry sucks
I’m constantly amazed that Harry Reid is allowed to lie.
The Federal Government will embrace fiscal sanity or it will be forced upon them by the market. However, rising interest rates would destroy the welfare state, contrary to the ‘progressive’ belief that this would lead to socialism.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Now heck, that there is some cowboy poetry.
Governor Brewer should offer the promoters of the Cowboy festival land, parking and facilities at no cost for the next 10 years.
“He’s got a nerve. Where was he (Reid) for the last 27 months?”
Probably reading poetry to cowboys.
According to Harry, those poetry festivals create people. He said that without them, thousands of people wouldn’t exist. What a numbskull.
We're warning you.
We're warning you, Harry.
Not kidding here, we're warning you.
We're warning you.
Harry, this is our last warning.
Last warning Harry
Don't make us do this Harry
We're warning you.
Warning! Danger Harry
This one, this one is your last warning.
Warning you Harry...
We're warning you.
We're warning you, Harry.
Not kidding here, we're warning you.
We're warning you.
Harry, this is our last warning.
Last warning Harry
Don't make us do this Harry
We're warning you.
Warning! Danger Harry
We're giving you a final warning!!
I move that the Senate pass a rule that Harry Reid must express himself only in Cowboy Prose.
HE, Reid, is the majority leader. Then, for the last 27 months and now. He sets the agenda. Obviously, if he is so concerned about jobs why didn’t he do something while he could?
Obviously, he is living down to his reputation as a windbag liar, crook, reprobate politician.
We need to besiege the Capitol, break in, camp out, interrupt Senate proceedings while Pubbie senators all go on vacation somewhere. Oh, and drop a handful of ammo each on the Capitol grounds and send death threats to Dem leaders.
After all, that's the democratic process. /s
“He said that without them, thousands of people wouldnt exist. What a numbskull.”
Isn’t area 51 out there somewhere? Maybe that’s what Harry meant. He and Dennis Kucinich have some top secret alien exchange program with forced cowboy poetry recitations.
Only 10? Where’s the rest of the GOP Senators? COWARDS!
Or Inhofe, Coburn, Hutchinson, Cornyn and a host of others...
He is so full of s**t. Government doesn't create jobs, or all too often not much else besides roadblocks to prosperity.
Also notably absent were the two sets of RINO Bobsy Twins, Orrin Hatch and his seat mate Richard Lugar (both “on the job” for 34 Years), and the Two Evil Sisters from Maine. These four all need to go!
