Call it patriotic adultery.
Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has claimed that he had an affair with a colleague because his love of country made him work too hard. The twice-divorced Republican politician was married to his second wife Ginther when he embarked on an affair in the mid-90s with blonde Castilla Bisek, who is 23-years his junior.
(snip)
'There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate,' Gingrich told The Christian Broadcasting Network.

I don’t know.
Sometimes the people with the highest IQs are also the ones with the least amount of common sense.

And his wife didn't accept such a patriotic explanation and forgive him rather than divorce him? What is she, some kind of America-hating commie?
Still, for the sake of his current marriage, maybe Newt shoud give up on running for the presidency. We wouldn't want him to work too hard.

Tony Blair, the Scotsman who sold England out to Islam, is another recent convert to Catholicism while his wife’s sister became a muslim.
There must be some financial gain of fear of burning in hell behind these phony ‘converseions.” Newt is a POS like Blair.

if he wants to be President he will have to come up with something better than that. He is a man of towering strengths and glaring faults. The latter is here on display.

Newt's done...
I like him, and he is one of the most innovative thinkers in politics in this generation. But this sort of statement is not helpful to him.
Newt is a mercurial personality-- we need an adult in charge after 2012. (Heck, we could use one now.)
