Typical Illinois DemoRAT scumbags. I'll make them a deal, I'll report all of my online purchases subject to a use tax when these bastards report all of their bribes and illegal payoffs on their 1040's.

Kinda have that already, at least in GA. If you make an online purchase and there is any brick-and-mortar presence in the state, the store itself assesses the sales tax.

Chicago thugs are no doubt ordering the puppet in the White house to implement similar restrictions.

A use tax is a form of sales tax that applies to purchases made outside Illinois, but used in the state. The tax, which is 6.25 percent of the purchase price, applies to online purchases made from businesses that don’t have brick and mortar locations in the state and that don’t charge Illinois sales taxes, according to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Aw crap. I'm wrong. These guys are going for money they have no right to go for.

God, I'm glad Illinois is dust on my shoes.

“This year, for the first time, taxpayers are being asked how much they owe in so-called “use taxes” on the Illinois 1040 tax form. “

Funny, we don’t have that form here in Texas. Ooops, I forgot, we also don’t have a state sales tax.

The way the thing is worded it sounds like it could apply to any sort of thing you walked into a store and bought in the next state and presumably paid their sales tax for there, and then took home with you.

The only regret I have about quitting smoking in August 2008, is that I can no longer screw Illinois out of taxes by buying all my cigarettes in Missouri.

They've had this question on West Virginia's tax return for years. The amount that is actually paid is on the low end between slim and none. I believe that the first year it was on the form, only $80,000 was collected. It has been such a failure that they don't even push it anymore. The first couple years, they put out ads and pamphlets saying taxpayers were resonsible for keeping records and reporting use tax on all internet and mail order purchases from out of state.

Lets just say, like most West Virginians I've never paid a cent. Did I owe any? I plead the fifth! (now I'm heading over to ebay and Amazon.com)...

So does Illinois provide services for those businesses outside of Illinois? don't be silly, no. Illinois public employees are running a protection racket. The protection is for their compensation. The middle-class needs to rise up, demonstrably.

I didn't think conservatives were of the opinion that is is OK to break the law, so long as someone else is breaking the law.

They must be joking. How many people hold onto their online receipts? No one is going to report those expenses and unless the state gets it from online retailers, good luck with collecting on the tax.

This year, for the first time, taxpayers are being asked how much they owe in so-called “use taxes” on the Illinois 1040 tax form. The law already required taxpayers to pay the “use” tax, but it wasn’t listed on the basic form.

Illinois' "use tax" was ruled unconstitutional back in the early 1990's and has never been resurrected. If they try hoodwinking the public, I'm fairly certain this will end up in court again ....

As for me I buy EVERYTHING except food and medication online to avoid the sales tax here in Illinois. Good luck collecting that Un-Constitutional "use tax" from me. Idiots.

It has been that way in Tennessee from the beginning. It is called a use tax.
People can avoid it but a business can be audited and sent a bill for all, that is all, not only internet sales tax back 5 years.

The state expects filers to honestly report what they owe. And if the state later finds out that you owe more, you can face penalties and interest, Hofer noted.

In an audit the FIRST place they will go to is this. It is no longer about correct reporting of income, it will be about penalties and interest.

Read the above again, just so you REALLY understand.

Just like seat belt laws are no longer about safety, they are about fines, so is this tax. The major source of revenue to make the tax collector look good is the penalty and interest and he wants to look GOOOOOOOOD to his supervisors.

Well folks, you are guilty before you got out of bed this morning. Decision time: protest by leaving it blank, Lie and put in zero, pay the tax, submit to your overlords, get involved to change things, start a revolution......................

Remember they have already calculated an amount you owe, you have to prove them wrong, they don't have to prove anything.

Makes me wonder if King Georges tax collectors imputed a tea tax even if you were drinking coffee..........
