Eggs here are outrageous: $3/dozen. Cheese is $6-$7/lb. Beef prices I don't even look at anymore and I don't buy it either.....
Best bet on eggs is to get a half dozen hens and a rooster. You can throw out your alarm clock and the hens will nest around your home's foundation and keep the bugs scratched out.
You may need to train your dog to not kill chickens though ~ part of his job will be to guard the hens!
We eat a lot of eggs. I am wondering if it might be cost-efficient to have a few laying hens around.
Local food fair had ribeyes yeterday for 2.99 Lb.
You need to go on welfare, then you can afford beef.
Those are the only people I see buying it.

Get to know your butcher.
Look for cuts with the current day expiration date. Ask the burcher if he’ll give you a discount because he has to pull the meat off the cooler anyway. I get good cuts of meat for 50% off or more. Of course you’ll need to use it right away or freeze it.
Same thing with the fish guy. If you see a bunch of tuna or haddock in the case not moving, ask him if he’ll take half-price for a couple of pounds.
I picked up fresh cod yesterday for $2.69 a lb., normally $6.99 a lb.
The meat and fish guys are your best buddies when grocery shopping.
