Putting gas prices aside for a moment, what are you paying for a gallon of milk?
We just paid more than $4.00 a gallon yesterday.

Sounds like loss leaders, eh?
It’s at a store called Aldi’s in Rochester, NY
$3.59 Southern CT.
Very likely it is a loss leader. The local Aldi’s does sell a boatload of milk and eggs.
Did you buy your milk in Pennsylvania? When I lived there the state set a ‘minimum’ price for a gallon of milk. I believe it is about $4.00. Price dropped in half after I moved to another state. Recently I paid 3.96 for a two gallon pack at Costco in Wash.

Part of the increase in fruits and veggies is that freeze early in February. It wiped out crops clear down into Mexico. I read that veggies should start getting back to "normal" around the end of April - when freshly planted crops start bearing.
'Milk Soviet' - I love it!. Jewels like this are one of the reasons i love FR.
It’s been around $5.50 a gal for a couple of years now. Half gallons are $3.13.
Store brands are around $3.00—name brands—over$5.00.
Well worth it! I spend at least 6.59/Lb on a good day for a boneless rib roast - haven’t seen those prices since summer. It’s about 8 bucks a pound now...
It depends where I buy it and what type of milk I buy. 1% was $2.49, I think it’s now $2.79 and that’s only at the corner markets. At the super market all milk is over $4.00 as is all the gallons of milk except 1% at the corner market. I don’t buy my milk at either of the local super markets because it always seems to be either sour or it sourers within a day or two, even when the expiration date is a week or more away. I haven’t had this trouble with the milk at the corner market.
Store brand 1.99 on sale. 2.50 name brand. Outside of Madistan WI.
A week ago, At local Wal-Mart, I bought house brand for $3.33. Yesterday,m same gallon cost $3.47.
Local Dairy brand was $4.32. I don’t know what that was a week ago.
Local Dairy brand is grown & bottled within 35 miles of this store.
I used to know a parakeet named Otis who could say Quality Dairy, among other things...
I filled up with gas in Fernley, Nev Fri afternoon for $3.659/gallon.
In Reno, near John Asquaga’s Nugget on Victorian street Sat the price was $3.799 a gallon.
Nevada has lower state gas tax than alot of states.
$3.99 at the grocery store, $3.46 at Costco. Obviously most of our milk comes from Costco. Half-and-half and whole cream are half the grocery store price.

don’t forget the federal subsidies
the amount you pay at the counter is not the true cost
and yes, this means if you are in the top 50% of tax payers, you are paying a portion of everyone’s milk (and other goods)
I get the lactose free milk. It’s higher, but since I figured out that regular milk bloated me up like a balloon, it’s been worth it. Didn’t know aged cheddar was low in lactose; thanks for telling us about it.
