Lots of southern descent families in southeastern Michigan from the days of WWII. In fact a linguist I met a few years back said she could pinpoint where I was from due to the distinct accent of the area. He said its got a southern edge to it. I never noticed it but when I lived up north, people often assumed I was from south of the Mason Dixon line but I’ve never lived south of the Toledo line.
