I did not make myself clear.

Hillary was considered to be the face of the Obama administration. Obama is at least a week late also because the Brits et al who are the loop are not telling him.

He has mounted a presstitute show of force to cover his sorry ass. Oh yes.....the press has no clue and are also not a party to the real goings on.

If you really want to do something useful regarding Muslims, plan to be in Washington, DC. on March 3rd. A radical Muslim group that wants to make the USA a SHARIA NATION, plans a demonstration in from of the White House at Lafayette Square starting at noon. Here is an FR post with more about these $%^&*(%$#.

Concur, I did LEO ops (chased druggies)in the Caribbean in the early 90’s from Knox and Perry class frigates flying H-2’s.

They're still doing it, minus the helos. My young cousin is a boarding-party leaders aboard a Perry-class FF (derated after her Standard launchers were pulled: FF's/FFG's no longer accompany CBG's in hot areas because they're not integrated into the AEGIS picture .... and presumably because of the Stark's experience). He sees Mayport often, on his way to blue water. They do yank some significant hauls of cocaine out of circulation, and some video circulated on the Net a year or so ago of their British colleagues using one drug-runner for target practice after she'd been emptied out, eventually concluding the demo/practice with an offering from the Ministry of Loud Noises.

Some of the FF's are being retired now .... they're 30 years old .... one was found to have hull plating with patches that were 1/8" thick. Inspection FAIL ....

“He should have done it a week ago.” I don’t know if this is true or not. From the map above it seems we didn’t have much in the way of assets in the Mediterannian a week ago. I see two ships in the Red Sea, headed for Suez? Were they busy with Somali pirates a week ago? Weren’t 4 Americans murdered off Somalia a week ago? Did Cameron already have more assets there a week ago? Armchair analysis is for the lazy minded. Let’s have some facts before we second guess our leaders, whoever they may be or have been.

They started cutting them up in 2007 and the last one was destroyed either late ‘09 or early ‘10.

There's still about a dozen or so left out at AMARG. Pictures of them show up every so often out on Airliners.net and Airfighters.com. While mothballed (spraylatted and not de-mil'd), they're just being held as a contingency to meet future museum requests. Although Dale Snodgrass (the high-time Tomcat driver and the pilot for that amazing carrier fly-by picture that's all over the net) did at one time have a scheme to buy up 8-10 of them to keep 4 flying on the airsho circuit. :D

Actually I have just retired from 22 years in the military. I’ve been to the middle east and I have sympathy for the kids but not the adults. The adults seem to go along with whomever is in charge and want handouts from the US when we come in to help. The children have no control over their lives but the adults do. They need to rise up and toss out the militant dictators that are in control. And don’t tell me they can’t. There are plenty of weapons in the hands of the public over there. How about Code Pink and all the others who are protesting the war get off their “high horses” and speak out against the injustices done to the arab people by their own kind?

It was the other way, I first flew CH-46E’s for 4 years in the Marines(east coast), then did an inter service transfer to the USNR. Where I flew SH-3D’s (JAX) for a year and then flew SH-2F’s at South Weymouth for 6 years. The 46 was a good aircraft while I was flying it, with limited material failure issues. As time passed it became more of an issue. It was a flexible platform that one could do some pretty neat stuff with. It did have short legs though. The H-3 was a stable hover platform but it reminded me of driving a truck. The H-2 was smaller and more responsive than the others, however it was a maintenance pig. Maintenance man hour per flight hour was similar to that of the H-53. In the years I flew it I only had one year in which I did not have to use sim time to meet annual minimums, and I used all my additional flying drills every year.

I know that anti-piracy ops are a secondary function for any naval warship, but to task a carrier strike group with the job is just a huge waste of resources given the Rules of Engagement.

When you spend $600 billion a year on the military you can afford to park a carrier off the coast of Somalia to hunt for guys with big foreheads driving speedboats and derelict motherships.

We only have two carriers in the area: Carl Vinson and Enterprise, both were in the North Arabian Sea. Enterprise went through the canal just two weeks ago and now it's making a return trip.

As for the Reagan, the Navy website confirmed it left San Diego for join exercises, a westpac and then centcom duty which covers the middle east. They don't have a timeline.

Looks like Lincoln is on westpac, Stennis on eastpac, Washington in port (Japan), Truman at Norfolk with the Bush and Ike.

Thank you! I had thought there was one carrier group near Spain. Maybe it's in the NA. I had thought it was in the Med.

Probably I'm just mistaken.

Again, Thank you and thanks for the link!

It isn't about the money. It's about other sea lanes and coastlines being left uncovered by the Enterprise CSG. As another poster said, anti-Piracy should be the job of a frigate Navy.

If you want to complain about the ship building budget, I’m all for cutting the littoral combat ship. They could build a flotilla of fast patrol craft and a tender for what they are spending on a single vessel. If we had those ships we could nail down the entire Somali coastline at very little cost.

They don’t need to nail down the coast. They need to light up about ten pirate vessels to end the problem. Once word gets back to the coast that the US military is sinking pirate boats nobody will be up for a death sentence.

Maybe so, but there's not much chance of that happening with this bunch in charge.

Where are all the anti-war protesters? nobama and his minion, clintoon, are about to invade a sovereign country. Wasn’t that one of the endless gripes by the anti-war asshats? Where are they?! Truly...this is Bizarro World. God Bless the valiant Marines who may die because of these two putzes and their “brilliant” foreign policy.

You would like some facts? Okay, an aircraft carrier group is ill equipped for handling Piracy and as far as I know had nothing to do with tracking those 4 Americans. This is a job for frigates and amphib ships with helos. Britian, France, Spain and Germany all used military assets to include warships to evacuate their personnel last week. It does not take long to get ships from the Gulf of Aden to the Med. Check a map. These ships are just starting to be positioned in the Red Sea/Suez. They are not even in the Med yet. This isn't armchair analysis. This is experience speaking. A lot more than our current Commander in Chief anyways.
