Below is a statement from the office of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker:
Statement in Response to President Obama’s Misunderstanding
Madison– Today President Obama again weighed in against Governor Walker’s proposal to balance the state’s budget deficit by having state government workers contribute a modest amount toward their own pensions and pay 12.6 percent toward their healthcare premiums.
In response to the President’s comments, the Governor’s Press Secretary Cullen Werwie issued the following statement:
I'm sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I'm sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.

Be careful there - not all Federal employees receive "bloated salaries". I've been here 32 years and receive only $48K - that's for secretarial pay. And, there's a LOT of us that work darn hard, too. 60-70 hours/wk - not all of us are slack-offs.
I'm always suspicous of the 60-70 hours claim.
What does your last pay stub show for hours?

The left wing media also will not report that the federal government eliminated the Civil Service Retirement System for federal workers because it was too expensive. They replaced it with FERS, a 401k like system to save money. That’s a fact the media conveniently ignores.
MOST federal employees in the Washington DC metro area do receive extremely bloated salaries and generous benefits that dwarf what the private sector gets. In the DC area $100K+ salaries are commonplace as GS 14 -15 grades abound.

I am not from Wisconsin either, but I am an American, and we need to win this one for ALL of us. I have been sending him attaboy emails since day one ; } because he has given me hope! In the beginning, I was so afraid he would cave, but now I see that he is made of sterner stuff :)
If we can get the Governors and some other Representatives to follow his lead, and sit up and start saying the things we all know - that the Emperor has NO clothes - then we just might be able to swing this ship around!
Let him know we have his back folks!
