MARANA, Ariz. -- The last time he played, Tiger Woods committed an act on television that made some folks want to cover their eyes. This time, sensitive types could well have covered their ears. Moments after he lost a first-round match for only the second time in 10 trips to the Accenture Match Play Championship, Woods uttered a vulgarity to describe both his game and state of mind. Asked where he was in the yearlong process of rebuilding his sliding game, Woods looked Golf Channel/NBC reporter Roger Maltbie in the eye and said, "Pissed. That's where I'm at right now." After a back-and-forth fight with Thomas Bjorn, Woods made a clutch 8-footer on the 18th hole to extend the match, then shoved his 3-wood tee shot on the first extra hole into the desert, where his next shot failed to extricate the ball from a thorny bush. Woods eventually conceded the match on the green. "I was trying to hit a ball in play," he said. "The fairway is what, 200 yards wide? That's very disappointing." The three-time Accenture champion lost in the first round only once before, to Peter O'Malley, in 2002. "I had the momentum going to the 19th hole and I blew it," Woods said dejectedly. Woods hadn't played in the event since 2009, when he was making his first start after having reconstructive knee surgery. He was bounced in the second round by Tim Clark. Bjorn confirmed the obvious, admitting it wasn't particularly pretty on either front. "You didn't know who was going to hit a bad shot next," the Dane said. We used to always assume it would be the other guy. Not anymore.Woods kicked to curb, then kicked around

I have to LOL at some in the media who are pushing this 'just wait, he'll dominate again' meme. He might win a few more majors, but as far as dominating? Doubtful. The fear factor plays a big part in dominating. In the past Tiger knew he would beat his opponents. So did his opponents. He knew that more than likely they would fold (especially on final Sunday). They knew he knew this. Which added even more pressure. It's not like that any more. Guys don't fear him. When they're paired with him they believe they can best him on the day. Their confidence is bolstered, his is deflated. I don't see him ever getting back the fear factor he once had. Oh sure the Golf Channel wants you to believe he wins again and it's back to domination but I don't buy it.
Looks like all those women really were for his golf game.
Theres always the Nationwide Tour.
at what point do they start calling him eldrick? have to start winning if you want to be called tiger
Maybe he became used to the pain killers.
It will always be in the back of their mind.
Like Sheen, he is only successful when he is partying like an animal.
I saw that interview. He was far more angry than dejected. In fact, the first thing he told the interviewer after walking off the last green was "I'm pissed." I only watched a few holes on the back nine, so I'm not sure if he hurled any of his usual expletives today while banging his clubs into the ground. ...or if he spit on any greens.
All I know is what I see, and Woods’ muscle is not as thick as it was before the scandal hit. Why is that? I’m not making any accusations, but I know I’m looking at a thinner, weaker Tiger Woods.
Does golf do drug tests?
I always thought Tiggy bulked up like an NFL safety on steroids.
I agree he needs to play more and I don’t understand him not playing in the Honda. You would think someone on an image rehabilitation tour would want to engratiate the locals and take part. He does live here now. I know his kids are living at “Rocking Horse” (a property he bought and developed for his Mom in Jupiter) and attending The Benjamin School. I assume he’s on Jupiter Island unless he’s still whoring around Orlando.
If you live 20 minutes from the tournament, you should take part. Especially considering the charities involved mostly have the name Nicklaus attached to them.
He will never regain any respect, he will always be tainted by his past. IMO, it shows in his game,
That's complete BS and you know it. Woods plays the majors just like every else and he picks and chooses the other tournaments based on appearance fees just like all the others.........His schedule for this year is approx. 17 tour events, just like everyone else........
As for their appearance (Woods and Mickelson) at the Abu Dhabi, they both received well over a million dollars just for showing up.............
The top golfers today are at such a point in their career that they can easily make more money in appearance fees than from the purses in the tournaments. That being said, it's only the purses they win that determines their overall standings in the PGA so they have to plan their schedules accordingly......
He is trying to unlearn a lifetime of technique. Don't think he can do it. And frankly there is no way I could care less. I was fortunate in my youth tournament days to have met both Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Both had more class in their little toe that Woods has in his hole body. TW is Rex Caldwell with silver.
Woods has been a non-factpr ever since his relationship with the blood-doper doctor in Canada was exposed. Coincidence?
Yeah, sure it is.
I doubt that anything can be done, though, because the cure is usually permanent and irreversible.
