They probably did and in turn, these Muslims reacted the way their Koran tells them to. I wonder how many more acts of Muslim kindness are needed before governments of civilized Nations decide it’s time to eradicate this problem.
Well, that’s awful for the people who were killed, but it is time to utterly destroy every Somali on the seas, starting with this crew. Slow waterboarding torture would be appropriate, before summary execution.

Yes, this won't end until we destroy all the pirate ports, sink everything in those ports and destroy the mansions built by the pirates built with the blood money paid to the pirates. Take some A10s and run them up and down the coast and the world would be a safer place.
This is not the time to bad mouth our President. This is the time to cope with reality. We (the USA) are viewed as the weakest nation on earth by our enemies. POTUS Obama, the weak and failed sister he is has destroyed the fear of American power across the world. This individual, Obama should be forced to resign from office by his own Democrat Party or he should be impeached immediately, along with Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc. America, I do not know whether we can wait for November, 2012 to defeat this anti-American buffoon!!! Everything he touches sinks our great country and our freedom to further deeper depths of failure. He is incompetent and should be removed from office immediately!!!

It's not like it's a secret. Drop Eyl Somalia into google earth, follow that stream bed south east a mile or two to the beach and you can even see their pirate boats.
Here's the issue, if you go to youtube, you can see video of the pirate base, and it's LOUSY with kids (future pirates). Now, you and I might not have any problem with nipping that problem in the bud by turning the entire joint into a glass parking lot, but you KNOW what kind of wailing and gnashing of teeth the emotionally driven folks all over the west will unleash. "Oh, we're just creating future pirates!"
What I read was they had been sailing around the world for 4 years passing out Bibles. Very commendable but not terrible smart to be where they were.

History records them as the Barbary Pirates. In fact, they were blackmailing terrorists, hiding behind a self-serving interpretation of their Islamic faith by embracing select tracts and ignoring others. Borrowing from the Christian Crusades of centuries past, they used history as a mandate for doing the western world one better. The quisling European powers had been buying them off for years.
On March 28, 1786 Jefferson and Adams detailed what they saw as the main issue:
“We took the liberty to make some inquiries concerning the Grounds of their pretensions to make war upon a Nation who had done them no Injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our Friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation. The Ambassador answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”
Thomas Jefferson wanted a military solution, but decades of blackmailing the American Republic and enslaving its citizens would continue until the new American nation realized that the only answer to terrorism was force.
"There's a temptation to view all of our problems as unprecedented and all of our threats as new and novel," says George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley. "On the high seas if you saw a pirate, you sank the bastard," he says. "You assault pirates, you don't arrest pirates."

One of the enduring lessons of the Barbary campaigns was to never give in to outlaws, whether you call them pirates or terrorists. In the late 1700s, America paid significant blackmail for peace -- shelling out $990,000 to the Algerians alone at a time when national revenues totaled just $7 million.
"Too many concessions have been made to Algiers," U.S. consul William Eaton wrote to the Secretary of State in 1799. "There is but one language which can be held to these people, and this is terror."

If the Somali government is unwilling or unable to deal with this, then we should. Why the hell are they being allowed to get away with this for so long? These pirates are nothing but terrorists, yet the world keeps on tolerating their murder and theft?
Time to flatten each and every village, harbor and hole where these jerks hide out. And blow each of their boats out of the water on sight.
