A Message From the SEIU President Regarding Wisconsin (Who Knows How I got on their email list ???)
Email | 02/19/2010 | Mary Kay Henry, President SEIU

Posted on 02/20/2011 10:53:11 AM PST by apillar

SEIU brothers and sisters,

As I write, 30,000 people are gathered outside of the Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin speaking out against Republican Governor Scott Walker's attempt to take away collective bargaining rights from public employees.

Almost 14,000 of our SEIU brothers and sisters stand to lose their rights if Governor Walker gets his way: 9,000 nurses and nursing home staff, along with about 5,000 home care workers.

They've been out there among the demonstrators all week.

We've set up a page on our website that allows you to send a message of support to our SEIU family and everyone else fighting for their rights outside the Capitol.

Share your well-wishes for the working families in Wisconsin and we'll make sure they receive them this weekend.

http://www.seiu.me/wisconsin

While the collective bargaining rights of our members are at stake, it's important to note that the conversation taking place is about more than that alone. When Scott Walker manufactured this crisis by giving tax cuts to corporations and his special interest friends last month, it escalated a state legislative debate into a struggle for economic justice with large corporations not paying their fair share to get Americans back to work.

When you see the news of our members in Wisconsin on the television and online, those are the things they're fighting for.

Send a message to your SEIU brothers and sisters who have been outside the Capitol all week and we'll make sure they receive it.

http://www.seiu.me/wisconsin

Scott Walker claims this is about saving money, but President Obama said it best: this is an "assault on unions."

But it's not just union members at risk; it's the services these members provide-whether that be as teachers, public safety personnel or home health care workers.

I'll be in touch soon with updates from Wisconsin and other states where working families are under attack from a new crop of Republican governors.

In solidarity,

Mary Kay Henry

President, SEIU

PS - Republicans are trying to take away workers' rights in at least ten states. But if we stop them in Wisconsin, we'll make a strong statement that America will not tolerate any more Republican attacks on the middle class. Stand with workers in Wisconsin now:

“What,you don’t own a gun?”\

Oops. Forgot that. I was intending to use it against criminals, but, then, you’ve reminded me that union thugs are criminals.

In reading the bill the home health care aides will not be allowed to unionize as state employees. SEIU is striving to go throughout every state in the union and unionize home health workers.

In the UP of Michigan several have been sent letters informing them that they will have to unionize. The response back to SEIU has been Drop Dead.

Yeah, they have to get back to the Democrat attacks on the "rich".

When you kill the employer class, you have fewer employees. When you have greedy union employees, you have fewer union workers. If the state is part of the employer class, the unions feel they have a bottomless pot of money - just keep taxing. This all boils down to running out of other people's money. Redistribution doesn't work.

"...When Scott Walker manufactured this crisis by giving tax cuts to corporations and his special interest friends last month, it escalated a state legislative debate into a struggle for economic justice with large corporations not paying their fair share to get Americans back to work..."

The same old class envy BS ... the big corporations just exploit the workers, the rich get richer etc. This is the old Communist and Socialist lie.

If Unions cared about their members and children:

They would lower their compelled dues that members pay until wages catch up to the increases costs.

Create a sliding scale to match annual increases.

Lower from the 1,000+ annual dues to 500.00 and raise a few points each year!

Actually, I think I must have got on their list back in the fall when I sent them a nastygram about their push for card check. I assumed that they would quickly delete my email address once they realized I wasn't one of their thugs. The only time in my life I've had the misfortune of being in a union was way back in my college days when I was forced to join the Food and Commercial Workers just to get a part time job bagging groceries at the local Kroger.

Some of us are out of work and would love to have been bussed up there to add to the Tea Party numbers.

True, but I would presume that your current job of finding a new job doesn't allow you time off to help. :(

I pray that you find a new job ASAP.

There is no need for the GOP or anyone else to start busing in supporters of Governor Scott Walker. Why? The overwhelming number of Americans want these public service unions disbanded and....that is going to happen. POTUS Barack Hussein Obama has caused a sea change of thought in this country and among its voters. The results of the November, 2010 elections clearly outline the desire of the American people. Evidently Obama, the Democrat Party and the labor union thugs and greedy members do not get it. So......come November, 2012, Obama will be handily defeated, the Democrat Party will lose both the House and Senate and the labor union movement in the USA will be changed forever. Now, I suggest my labor union friends wise up, go back to work and shut their mouths (They also best learn to fly American Flags at their demontrations, meetings/rallies/protests, etc. just like USA industrial unions of old did)!!! They have gone too far, just like Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the entire Democrat Party have gone too far. As Obama’s erstwhile mentor, hero & icon, Black Racist, America hater, Reverand Jeremiah Wright has uttered, “The chickens are coming home to roost!!!) The entire Mainstream Media and all its ranting, raving and spin will not save Obama and all his hateful America/American detractors!!! Why??? The American people/voters have this flim/flam, shyster man’s number. Obama will shortly be hearing the flushing sound of himself and his minions flushing down the toilet into the black hole of forever obscurity where he and his anti-American lock-steppers rightfully belong!!!!

SEIU, say me
Say it for always
That’s the way it should be

SEIU, say me
Say it together
Naturally...

If Unions think they’re hated now, wait til they bankrupt the State they operate in... They haven’t begun to know hatred.

I haven't seen this yet...

The hysterical "educational" union crooks in Wisconsin, and Obama both are besides themselves about "union busting." It's a dirty phrase.
Except for me. I hope it is union busting, and way overdue, but only applied to public employees at any level. I subscribe completely to FDRs view of public employee unions.

In a little-known letter he wrote to the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees in 1937, Roosevelt reasoned:

"... Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations ... The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for ... officials ... to bind the employer ... The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives ...

"Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees. Upon employees in the federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people ... This obligation is paramount ... A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent ... to prevent or obstruct ... Government ... Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government ... is unthinkable and intolerable."

Way back in the day the teamsters tried to unionize where I worked in Texas. If they succeeded the owner was going to shut down and we’d all lose our jobs. A thug told me if I went down the hill to work I’d get a bullet in the back. I had to go down for a moral reason but I’ll leave that out of the story as it’s personal. I told him just to make sure he killed me, and I gave him a long look. that was the end of that

I’d like to see Mary Kay Henry’s ass thrown in jail. Damn thug.

Also Nancy (the screamer) Rice, the hysterical and incoherent band director, and all sports coaches and other useless school activities who seem to be among the loudest and most uncouth thugs at thhe demonstrations. Non teachers wasting our tax dollars.

The ousted chairman of the WA State GOP took a job lobbying for state branch of the SEIU home care workers. His name is Luke Esser.
