8 million people live there....and yet only 37,000 are given the privilege to exercise a right that predates the Constitution and is guaranteed by it. Disgusting.

True but you forgot to factor in the 100,000 or so thugs that have a gun despite the “gun laws.”

In reality there is no granting of "the privilege" of exercising a right. It's impossible to grant a person a right.

Rights are God-given. "Privileges" connote permission by the granter.

More disgusting is that many of those 37,000 are movers and shakers that have done everything in their power to prevent the other 7,973,000 from getting a gun (let alone carrying it for self-defense) legally. The hypocrisy is of the worst sort - it isn't just the usual "do as I say, not as I do" sort, it is the type that says "my life is worth far, far more than your, prole, to the point that I WANT to deny you any means to hurt me, knowing how you uneducated, uncultured idiots hate me so much."

As you say, disgusting. Oh, and unconstitutional, but go and find 5 honest justices in the Supreme Court. The day you do, make sure that I'm sitting before you tell me.
