THIS IS A LITMUS TEST OF THE NEW EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT AND THEY HAVE CLEARLY FAILED.
Cut off Egypt’s money now. They are now openly siding with the Islamists.

Iran wont attack because this is all symbolic.
Unless they attack their own ships.

Israeli ships went through it last summer to participate in excercises with the US Navy. After giving a 6 months notification and asking permission.
Point taken ... I'm sure the Israelis are taking this whole incident as just a "provocation" and will ignore it. International law and definitions therein can be redefined by the country in the crosshairs if their very survival is in question. Once again, just a personal observation.

If we had a real President with any cojones, our military would find a way to make a sizable number of really big splashes directly in front of those bozos as they approach the canal. (Sufficient in quantity and size to make them seriously reconsider the error of their ways...)

If we had a competent government, a couple of U.S. Navy destroyers would be deployed to “escort” these wayward vessels to wherever they were bound, and otherwise make sure that they came to no harm—such a long, long way from home.
And a couple other heavily armed Navy ships would also be deployed to make sure that things stayed nice and peaceful, all the way around.

The Israelis will do nothing. They can’t take on the full weight of world opinion on their own. Once, they could count on us. But they cannot count on us for moral—or any other kind of—support from Hussein Obama’s America.

They could be taking Katyusha rockets to Syria. If Israel believes they are, they will at least try to board them.

.........in lieu of the pinpoint accuracy of modern munitions today in the hands of the IDF, and given the go ahead by the Israeli gov’t, these two little pitiful ships manned by comical 9th century thinking jihadis will simply be vaporized including all hands during the afternoon prayers.................a desert wind will blow the smoke away in a few minutes and it’s all over..............

You underestimate the oratory ability of Hussein Obama.
He’ll call for a beer summit with Iran.

Hell call for a beer summit with Iran. Well, yes, I'm sure Obama will call for this, but of course alcohol is forbidden to Muslims, is it not?
Incompetence.

I don’t see how this is a litmus test for Egypt. They are treaty-bound to allow all ships to pass, regardless of flag. They didn’t really have much choice here.

Good point. What will the Iranian diplomat do with the bottle?
I’m afraid to ask.

This is terrible and even more so terrible that our government made this possible via selective ‘democracy’ support via Obama.

You’re right. The Suez Canal is 20% of their economy. A bucks a buck.
