For the past couple of weeks, I've been writing about Republican politicians' birther problem.
Whether or not the issue is one of mere symbolic belief or genuine agreement among large segments of the Republican base, GOP leaders feel obligated to mollify those among their base who believe the outlandish conspiracy theory that president wasn't born in the United States or that he's secretly a Muslim. But now former President George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove has come up with a new conspiracy theory that is less dumb than the original one, but not by much. According to Rove, the White House wants Republicans to continue raising doubts about Obama's citizenship in order to make the GOP look kooky:

The problem, of course, is that at least one recent poll showed that a majority of Republicans have doubts about the president's citizenship, which explains the rise of "post-birtherism." Republican leaders don't want to anger a large section of their base by flatly calling this stuff what it is, which is nuts. So the new approach is to joke about it or to carefully avoid denouncing the idea completely.

The idea that the issue is a "trap" is belied by the ease with which Republican leaders could shut the entire matter down. All they have to do is say it's silly.

It's brought up all the time, but who do you think decides these questions anyway?
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court administered the oath of office to Obama.
If the citizenship of his father were an issue he wouldn't have done so.
Birthers may be wrong, but they're looking for something that wasn't known to millions before Obama was elected, something that might have stood in the way of his taking office, as his father's birthplace and foreign status obviously didn't.
“National politicians WILL be demonized if they say anyhthing like”
Tough cookies. It’s their JOB. They swore to uphold and defend the Constitution.
Lt. Col. Lakin sits in prison for asking that his Commander-In-Chief be LAWFUL.
I have posted my article so many time most Freepers are probably doing face palms. I MAY HAVE carried out my conclusions to a improbable end but I stand by my theory why the regime planted that birth certificate in the first place.

I will stand with the muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction
HOLY CRAP - did he really say that?

Relax. Obama did not say that. Bill Ayers did. In the book he wrote for Obama. Audacity of Dope - I think it was called.
But - sad to say - it is a true ideal with the Muslim in Cheif.
Exactly. And any person, public, private, great or small, who calls this issue "silly", or another other demeaning label, is part of the problem.
The whole birther movement goes away the moment the original birth documents are produced showing 0 was born in Hawaii.
It’s so easy.
And yet it never happens.
Why is that?
________________________________________________________________
I’ve thought of that over the years. The reason it won’t happen is because it will give us birthers a moral superiority. An edge over Obama. He may “prove” something, but only because of the overwhelming demand of conservatives.
And narcissists like Barry do not back down after being pushed in a corner. look at what Clinton did. At what Nixon did. Obama will see this country go down in flames before he coughs up the $10 to the HDOH.
Yes, and this is "the dog that didn't bark" in the whole eligibility issue. It reveals that the whole senate was well aware of Obama's little problem.
So then you are saying that our government let a decorated, 18 year, military doctor go to prison as a “birther” joke?
No, Serwer, it's you who are silly. You "assume" the argument is his citizenship. While that might be part of the problem, the most glaring problem is that his father was not a US citizen. The birth certificate is merely a legal document to prove his NBC.
So "anchor babies" born to illegal aliens in the US are eligible to be president someday? I think not.
As the Chinese saying goes: “No silver buried here.”
[The story goes, a dull-witted peasant found a treasure of silver bars fallen by the roadside, took it home and buried it in his yard at night when he was pretty sure no one would see. But just to make sure, he then went around to all his neighbors and fellow villagers pointing to his yard and saying, “No silver buried here”.]
Everyday that Lt. Col. Lakin sits in jail must make Obama LAUGH HIS ASS OFF.
Obama pwnds Issa, Boehner, Cantor, Palin, Bachmann...(list too long to name all).
Issa, Boehner, Cantor, Palin, Bachmann...(list too long to name all) just walk on by the dedicated, 18 year, public servant who dared asked for proof that Obama is eligible. Lt. Col. Lakin is a distraction and an annoyance.
Obama laughs at the law and the Constitution. He also laughs at Issa, Boehner, Cantor, Palin, Bachmann...(list too long to name all) because they are carrying his water over the issue.
Obama is LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF.
“Best to say nothing and let individual States pass laws that force Presidential candidates to prove conclusively they are natural born citizens.”
But how do they prove they are ‘natural born Citizens’ if SCOTUS won’t interpret the Framers’ meaning when they inserted that language into the Constitutional requirements for POTUS, and for POTUS only?
A birth certificate alone won’t do the trick under one interpretation, but would under another. So how do states draw up the language of any such law with any specificity? The states’ legislatures can’t interpret the Constitution, only SCOTUS can. That question remains, and will remain until SCOTUS acts. OR they are asking for a whole new slew of cases being brought.
Please read what Snopes says about this issue and explain to me where it is wrong. I’m not challenging you, I simply want to know. My guy says they are FOS, but don’t know what the answers are.
If you, or anyone else who wants to address, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been saying all along that I believe that the reason that they cannot find an original birth certificate for Barack Obama is because his name wasn’t Barack Obama at birth.
At the time that Barry was born, a child of an unwed mother had to be given the mother’s last name, not the father’s name. Obama’s parents were not legally married.
I think that the controversy started because Obama didn’t want to answer questions about why he changed his name to a Muslim name if he wasn’t a Muslim. He enjoyed the controversy over his place of birth because it detracted interest from the name issue.
Your picture :
Here is Obama (and friends) LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF about our military, the Supreme Court, and Republicans throwing a Lt. Col. in prison.
It’s a riot...the military threw one of their own under the bus FOR OBAMA.
Obama’s giddy.
The media is pounding the drum hard. Trying to get any republican to say that they think Obama is a Christian and born in the united states.
If the media is doing it, it is because the white house wants it done.
They must be nervous.
But they are trying misdirection. Again, the reality of the situation is, it doesn’t matter where Obama was born. His father, be he, Obama or Sotoro was not an American. Therefore Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen.
I think in the end Obama may release his birth certificate showing that he was most likely born Barry Sotoro. He can weather that perhaps. But if the issue is clear that his parents had to be American Citizens for him to be a Natural Born Citizen, he will pack it in and give up.
He can not weather the Law. Nor the fact that he broke it to get into office. He can handle a name change he had little to do with. But not the fact that his father was Indonesian.
That has been the big misdirection all along. Demand his college records. If he presented himself as a foreign student for aid, he can’t weather that either.
I think more like Barry Dunham. Maybe even Stanley Dunham.
