I think this is a surprise actually, the US was expected to abstain from the vote. A good sign, small as it is.

Knock me over with a feather. All week Bambi was sending the “signal” that he was in line with the ravacious Arab states to put it to the Jews, but then, he knifes them in the back (instead if Israel for a change...of pace). Amateur hour in State Department and the WH. OMG

Our prayers were heard. Their trial balloon must have gone over like a Gibraltar-sized lead balloon.

Hussein’s trial balloon did not fly very well.

I am still convinced he hates Israel.

I’m no fan of Obama’s, but I don’t get your post. If the U.N. ambassador vetoed the resolution, it was done at the behest of this administration.

Obama is the one who made the decision. He was forced into it, which will hurt him in the arab world. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Bibi showed Obama who really had the mojo.

The UN has a long and squalid history of antisemitic votes. Often general assembly resolutions were passed by votes like 100-2. We were so committed to trying to make the UN work, we never used our veto power in the Security council until 1970 when President Nixon put an end to such misguided idealism.

“At a meeting of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, members characterized the world body as inefficient and corrupt. Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is leading the drive to slash funding and has introduced a bill to get the UN on a rapid schedule of reforms. At the head of the list is to de-fund the corrupt UN Human Rights Council.

One Republican member of the committee, Dana Rohrabacher of California, said “the UN should be one of [the United States’] prime targets for reducing expenditures in order to bring down this deficit in the next few years.”

Remember who the head of the Department of State is?

Remember her largest voting block?

That’s why it was done.
