The web links on the first page are also quite informative.
And we all thought they wore red t-shirts because they were on sale or something
“Wisconsin Democrats could stay away for weeks - if theyd taken their constituents along, no one would mind.”
LoL so true.
LOL, it’s not a good idea to send the Wisconsin National Guard into Illinois.
That’s a bluff. The governor is even now figuring out how to lawfully force them to return, and/or consequences if they don’t.
They are creating hostility among everyone except Jesse Jackson and liberal thugs.
Depends on the Senate rules.
If the vote can be taken ‘anywhere’ than a trip to Illinois seems to be all that is necessary to have a quorum.
But, don’t quote me...
:0)
On some level, and in a certain context, sending the WI NG into Illinois sounds almost palatable. ;-)
too bad they only like 'mavericks' when they wear the 'R' hat...
I agree. The Rats have overplayed their hand once again, this time, I hope, grievously.
Simple, no show, no pay.
What’s the downside? They obviously don’t believe in democracy. They want to run the legislature, even though they lost the last election.
How about bringing in substitute teachers and make sure the word gets out to wherever these little commies are pay them the salary’s of the non-working teachers.
would someone please explain to me - what is ‘collective bargaining’? And why the unions claim it is a civil right?
I should know this ... haha, but I don’t and googling it gives me results that just show it as a great thing.
thank you.
:)
I could put together a CCW bill in a single day, simply by copying one already passed by another state and massaging it to fit WI law. There are a number of ways in which to make the coming days exquisitely painful for the Dems. The Republicans have no excuse for failing to twist the knife.
The GOP can change the Senate rules can’t they? Change it to a majority of those present and voting. And let’s see if the Democrats remain on the lam!
“At what point are they considered to have quit? They cant just not show up for work.”
I’m wondering too. You have MILLIONS of people in Wisconsin right now without representation, and no sign of those Senators. I hate to think horrible thoughts (LOL), but if a Senator was kidnapped or just disappeared, there must be a way to declare the seat vacant have a special election. Why not do it for all of them? And, in the meantime, with the seats vacant, the number to form a quorum drops and the Senators that were lucky enough to have avoided such a demise (LOL) can get back to doing the work of the people.
Thanks for the link. It was an interesting article.
In the end it was acknowledged that there’s pretty much nothing that can be done. The Wisconsin constitution does have some vague language, forthwith:
Watching Walker now on live conference. Am very glad he is giving a news conference. The pubs need to get out in front of the cameras over this although the pubs and public relations....not so good.
This action by the Dems....well like the rest of you Freepers, I’ve got mixed emotions.
I’ve been wondering, as I do, news junkee that I am. These protests are being staged for public relations purposes. The Dems WANT this to be covered so that ordinary Americans across the fruited plains who carry this country on their backs can tune into the evening news and see all of this.
I really don’t know what the hell Joe Sixpack’s going to think of all this. I do like that Walker’s repeating over and over how the ordinary guy doesn’t get as much money as these pampered jokers get. I’d think that Joe Sixpack ain’t gonna feel a whole lot of sympathy for these slackers either.
BUT...the Dems, man they know how to manipulate the media, they are masters of the sound and sight byte. Lord I’ve even seen some so-called “teachers” on there going on about how they’re like the Egyptians and again, does Joe Sixpack who spends his days out chasing chickens....does he buy this?
It boggles my mind that the Dems think this is a public relations winner.
Have any of y’all been talking to those in your surround who aren’t necessarily news junkees like thou and I....the Joe Sixpack types? You got any indicator of how this is going over? Cause I don’t think the Dems got a winner here.
My daughter, who is my quasi-guideline for middle class America, doesn’t know a thing about what’s going on in Wisconsin. she DOES, I’ll throw it out there, love her daughter’s teachers and tends to defend them, she being a smart kid and all but when she hears her little girl talk about how much she loves her teachers....well hell yeah, that’s EXACTLY how they want it to come down, those masters of deceit. Daughter would tend to advocate more money for heer daughter’s teacher but you know how it is....only for MY kid’s teacher, not the rest of them.
It’s how the Dems hope middle America sees this. They use the emotion of a child’s attachement to their teacher, hell yeah, it’s why they’re so damn good at it.
“Have all Christian churches open their doors and use their facilities for students. There are probably a lot of retired seniors as well as working moms and dads who would be willing to offer their services to teach “common sense” and Christian subjects that are far better than what they were being taught in public (state run) schools. WI could be the new beginning of what our Founding Fathers were taught. Maybe other states would follow their lead. “
I like that idea...the parents (and to some extent) the kids could get back to normal lives.
...and the kids may actually start to learn something for once.
Looks to me like the Republicans are in the catbird seat. They have a majority and can change the rules. The quorum is stated in the constitution and therefore, unless amended, is a sole function of the house involved.
But I could be wrong. After all, the executive branch of the federal government is ignoring the rulings of the judicial branch.
