The thing I don’t understand about the whole unions issue is why the state can’t just say they will hire whoever agrees to their terms. With unemployment like it is, I doubt they’d have problems finding people who would take their terms. There’s nothing in the law that says they have to hire this or that person, is there?

The unions probably have contractual agreements with the state to hire only employees willing to be forced into joining the union. Like a closed shop, sadly.

If they said 50, 100, 200, whatever jobs were open - you would get 20,000 people show up for interviews the next morning.
