On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

Knew something was going on when she was not on air from here in US after returning to CONUS.
This rumor has been working for a few days, and was all but confirmed by the lack of comment or denials from anyone at Black Rock or West 57th.
Some may say Logan has a checkered past, but nothing deserves this!
When 3 CBS engineers were killed by a perp years ago, Rather went into a (well deserved) on-air outrage. This time, there will probably be nothing, because, Lord knows, we don’t want to upset the “Arab Street.” Source with many years in SWA says many Muslims will approve of this, because, it was an infidel getting what she deserved.

Why focus on the poor woman instead of the murderous thugs that assaulted her? Of course, given her experience in the Muslim world, it is odd that she would place herself in that situation - probably due to raw ambition, wanting to be in the center of the action. Having lived in the Arab world, I know how they go nuts over attractive Western blonds. She must have known that as well. But from the photo she seems to be dressed modestly (a head scarf may have helped). But the whole incident just highlights the murderous hatred and incendiary violence that is always just under the surface in the Arab world. But this woman has paid a heavy price for her ambition, and our indignation should be directed towards those who assaulted her.
It’s too bad for CNN that it wasn’t some right wing Tea Party mob.
They’d report on it non stop, 24/7, like it was the biggest crime since the OJ trial.
Oh well, they can still bring her home, dress her in revealing clothing, and whore her around the talk circuit.
I figure her book will be out by November.

Egypt was a land of beautiful people; kind people; wonderful people. The so-called "people" in that crowd (and the criminals who looted the Cairo Museum) need to be brought to justice.
Obviously Mubarrak left too soon. His force-out was a FARCE that will only lead to DESTABLIZATION. So VERY sad. Everything right now. The world is upside down.

Logan and her crew should have be ordered out of that “inspiring” movement for “democracy”. The risk was more than obvious - it was guaranteed, and the experts knew it.

Yeah, and how many lefty scumbags in this country - - the same assclowns who have now forced the military to accept homos who, by definition, have mental and emotional disorders - - are STILL trying to force our military to put women into combat roles? They have no clue whatsoever about the military and have not given the first thought to what happens to women who are captured.
This incident with Logan is a perfect preview, but don't count on a single one of those lefty scumbags to make the connection. And even if they did it wouldn't matter to them anyway since their goal is the destruction of the US military and traditional American values.

Women (and especially foreign women) are often sexually harassed in Egypt. However, the politically correct crowd has tried to convince us otherwise. For example, a female writer tried to tell everyone a week and a half ago that the noble ideals of the revolution had changed Tahrir Square into a grope-free zone.

The sister of a friend of mine studied Arabic in Egypt and couldn’t wait to get out because many of the Egyptian men assumed, because of her blonde hair, that she was likely a Russian prostitute (and so treated her accordingly).
When a female tourist wrote an article about the excessive harassment she experienced, she was attacked on-line by many people who claimed that it must have been her fault. One on-line detractor included a well-known female Egyptologist who lives in Cairo and should have known better than to pretend otherwise.
