On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

Knew something was going on when she was not on air from here in US after returning to CONUS.
This rumor has been working for a few days, and was all but confirmed by the lack of comment or denials from anyone at Black Rock or West 57th.
Some may say Logan has a checkered past, but nothing deserves this!
When 3 CBS engineers were killed by a perp years ago, Rather went into a (well deserved) on-air outrage. This time, there will probably be nothing, because, Lord knows, we don’t want to upset the “Arab Street.” Source with many years in SWA says many Muslims will approve of this, because, it was an infidel getting what she deserved.
When will the rest of America wake up?
Man...thats one of the weirdest smackdowns I've ever seen.
Not knocking it, it works on some genetic level.
HT...just walk it off and continue to march.
MB, I bet you never ever dreamed you'd have the opportunity to play that card.
Wow...this is one for the books.
She's 39 years old, and has been a reporter for over a decade. She should have acquired at least some of the common sense we expect from an 18-year-old Marine, who we send into far more dangerous situations.
I love it how such threads provoke the members of the Harper Valley PTA crawl out of their stinking sheds or ruins of some failed misguided uprising in one case, and condemn to hell the rest of us who, in the PTA’s lofty view, don’t sympathize enough with the saintly and unfortunate victim. A right wing version of political correctness. Just what’s the difference between it and the other variety?
Who would send a woman reporter to Cairo to stand in the middle of a frenzied mob? ...
ABC Christiane Amanpour
Didn’t that one used to work for Clinton News Network?
Funny, that wizened old hag wasn’t even born here, Hating America makes you stupid I suppose.
While I agree with you, we live in a PC culture now where to "protect women" is to discriminate against them.
We are putting women in similar situations in the military. It is a bad idea. How many women will be raped in these unstable areas before we wise up?
I can’t stand her either, but your post is over the top.
Lara Logan was born in South Africa.
I'd pay to see her reaction to the fundemental shift in her world view. I wonder what Christiane Amanpour will say???
“before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. “
A moment of thanks to them. God bless them.
“ABC Christiane Amanpour”
But seriously, who would to assault her?

I am pissed off at the perps, but I am also very sober toward the danger. I have a very hard time mustering any sympathy for these idiot news people who think they are in compelete safety in the middle of a lawless mob. It is bad enough that they are in a lawless mob, now add one that hates us to death and believes it is their religeous duty to destroy us. Even discounting their hatred for us, it is absolute folly to put yourself into the midst of a lawless mob. Absolutey foolhardy.
Anyone with half a brain should know that their very life is in imminent danger in that country. The treatment this poor naive woman received is an ample reminder of that FACT.
These idiot news crews think they are protected behind their press credentials. “We are here to help you get sympathy for your cause”. Sure, ma’am. These wild animals really don’t care, and news stories like this are living proof.
Any news agency that puts it’s crews into this situation is guilty of criminal negligence IMHO.
>Must have been joos.
Or Christians.
/ sarc.
Its very uncommon for muslim fundamentalists to consider women as objects.<
Was them crazy Amish again I bet
“It is the kind of thuggery we can expect from people who are poorly equipped for democracy.”
Yeah slimy people who elect a muslim to destroy their country while all TV says how great he is including Bill O’reilly.
>I bet she comes out of the hospital a newly-minted conservative, if she wasn’t one already. <
too bad that it took this to make her see reality though.
She barley got out with her skin from what I have read. And her skin isn’t in the same condition it was in before her clash with these animals.
It would be nice if the rest of the MSM would take note. Please see my post 210 here.
It is shameful how they say everything is alright. I guess it ain’t so alright with Lara Logan now. Will they open their eyes when it happens to one of their own?
Not Loverly Lara?
Who doubts for a minute this liberal ninny wont be back up for seconds and thirds after her little vacation? mark my words you’ll she will have learned nothing! Read my tagline Lara!!
I read that. That was one liberal who’s brain was thoroughly washed and wrung.
>Im shocked... You usually see this kind of behavior at Tea Party Rallies... /s<
Oh yeah .. according to Chris (tinkle up my leg) Matthews and Rachel Madcow .. this is exactly what TEA parties are all about. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit of they said that this incident occurred at a TEA party instead of Egypt.
ABC Christiane Amanpour
But seriously, who would WANT to assault her?
The Brotherhood of Blind Muslims? : )
