Big Bird can breathe a little easier now.
Despite calls from conservatives and a bipartisan committee to cut federal funding of Corporation for Public Broadcasting, President Obama's 2012 budget -- released Monday -- preserves the money that supports it.
Obamas proposal includes $445 million in general programming grants for CPB in 2012, 2013 and 2014 -- up from $430 million in 2011.
The presidents plan comes as members of the House Appropriations Committee had in recent days renewed the push to defund to CPB -- and progressive groups, like MoveOn.org, and the Writers Guild of America mobilized to fight for PBS and NPR

Let NPR stand on it’s own. It it is such a valuable resource, like the MoveOn folks claim it will have no problem getting funding. If not, let it die.
What gets me is NPR and other “publicly run stations” alwas do fund raisers - how then do they need the gov’t to send them money? CUT THEM LOOSE!
Then add Jess Jacksons “Rainbow Coalition”
CAIR not only show be unfunded, but shipped out all together.
The list, ping

typically an Odumbo hissyfit....one of those I’ll show you petulant narcissistic actions..
Can someone help me understand this budget information? I have learned much about our government but I haven’t learned about the budget process. does the budget have to be approved by ALL branches? I thought it was up to congress, why has the President submitted a budget? I’m sure it all makes sense once you understand the rules, I just don’t know what those rules are....
Only the legislature can pass laws that appropriate funding , dipshit.

It's merely a wish list. And in Obambi's case, it is Dead On Arrival.

So all those trees had to die for nothing?
But seriously, From what I’v been reading, I thought it was more than wishful thinking. At this point I consider him a lame duck. Why would he ever assume that anyone would even read this thing? Does he have to sign off on whatever budget congress submits? just curious. Thanks for enlightening me! :)
The Senate is controlled by the Democrats, so they may try to include some of his “wishes”. First , the House comes up with a bill, then the Senate, then the two Houses will have to reconcile and then Obambi will have to sign off on it. Thats why there is a danger of governement shutdown; if theres no agreement in time (sometime in March).
All spending proposals originate in the House. Bambi can jump and down and hold his breath but if the House says no the answer is NO.
Seems to me that NPR claims the public money is only about 20% of their operating budget; the rest comes from various foundations and big corporate grants.
He saves the Unions, PBS and Planned Parenthood but manages to slash the budget for military bases in Texas??
what a puke.

Obam has also *increased* his budget’s support of ‘innovation’ in education...he might like to have our schools pattern this approach..
(Moochelle might think this is a good way to keep the little fatties from over-eating)
Makes sense. Would the Kremlin defund Pravda?
