The first lady of television has called on critics of President Obama to show 'some level of respect' - even if they weren't in support of his policies.
Speaking on a special edition of Morning Joe today, Oprah Winfrey said the presidency is a position that 'holds a sense of authority and governance over us all'.
The chat show host, who also talked about her new network OWN and the end of her long-running show, has been extremely vocal about her support for the president and made many campaign appearances during his race to the White House.
Morning Joe host, Joe Scarborough, recalled the first time Oprah appeared at a campaign event with Barack and Michelle Obama, in South Carolina.
He said it felt as though he was watching 'just three leaders' instead of three African American leaders before quizzing her on what she thought of the administration now.
'I have no issues with the Obama administration,' she said.
'I feel that everybody has a learning curve, and I feel that the reason why I was willing to step out for him is because I believed in his integrity and I believed in his heart. 'I believe that what he really wants is for this country to be greater, stronger more innovative. Those principles are what really enforces his beliefs.' Speaking about the current negative mood of the country Oprah quipped: 'Everybody complaining ought to try it (the presidency) for a week....

I’d love to see someone photoshop a pic of mo chasing oprah with measuring tape.
When Obungle deserves respect, he’ll get it.
Dear Oprah, The people would give him respect if he respected the people.
Just like she demanded respect for the far-more-maligned George Bush.
Right.
Meanwhile, OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network) is now running old episodes of 'Cash Cab'!
True enough, my little pork pie, but the oval office is not the appropriate place for OJT. We tried to warn you he lacked the experience to be the POTUS, even Hillary did, but Liberal dolts like you treated the election as if it were an American Idol contest, and now we are where we are. Thanks, sweetie.
a man EARNS respect and must work to keep it.
Sorry, Oprah, the concept of respecting the President ended when a$$holes like yourself started calling George W. Bush names like ‘Chimpy McFlightsuit’ and you started with the “1-20-2005” bumper stickers. Now you’re upset because it’s your guy in the White House having to live by the standards of decorum that YOU helped to set.
Ophrie, yo preachin’ to yo choir. Get lost.
And after that, tell people to respect GW Bush, who also held the title.
Hey Orca, has Dumbo shown respect to the US Constitution?
Has he honored his Oath of Office?
Does he respect the US Supreme Court?
Oh, Obama deserves respect... it’s an affirmative action thing.
“Hey Oprah, dont you have more important things to be concerned with, like the fact that your OWN Network is tanking”
Yeah, but at least she makes BET look better in the ratings.

If he got only what he deserved he'd be ducking shoes, insults and cold laughter
I came to the same conclusion during the Duke lacrosse fiasco. Nifong got >90% of the black vote despite the blatantly obvious lies of the black stripper/whore. They wanted those kids tried in front of a Durham jury. I am convinced the majority are after reparations in blood, as well as treasure.
stole it.........crap that’s funny
The office deserves respect, and there is nothing more disrespectful of it than Obama himself. What is the affirmative action rule for how long he gets before some measure of competency can be expected of him? Sorry Oprah, but he can’t be promoted out of his incompetence this time.
“I am convinced the majority are after reparations in blood”
Those who demand it in blood will receive it in lead.
