We effin crushed Saddam and Al Qaeda in Iraq. Was that Mubarak’s prediction?

I don’t trust the information coming from anyone on this issue. The right seems to be either in full NEOCON mode, or is simply so mired in domestic politics they are making this all about Obama. Limbaugh was totally unlistenable today.

No Mubarak stated just as I have all along that winning the war would be easy, it’s what came after the war. Ask the Chaldean Christian community in Iraq how well democracy has worked out.

Same thing will happen in the void created in Egypt unless the military can maintain. Mubarak being a former general understood this well.

Notice that in the countries Mubarak mentioned we naively just helped to undermine or destroy the then- existing (if imperfect) authority. We ASSumed the merely getting rid of a tyrant (or a mere SOB) would clear the way for an American-style democracy, with the sole difference being that the millions of Cleaver families would be browner and have funny names...just as we have just done in Egypt.

This is far, far more comparable to Iran than Iraq. Oh, and I daresay that you know it, too.
