obviously a left wing troll looking to get a reaction, reminds of of another troll from IL who was banned named N.S

He too caused arguments, never looked at facts, could not let it go and admit the might now know everything about a subject.

This is me though.
If I had nearly every person on this thread telling me the same thing and I was the only one with the other view I might stop and think.
I then would look more into the subject and read up on it for a few days until I understood what was going on and why everyone was saying the same thing to me .

When I might have said that for instance code pink is not there and there is no proof but then a poster gives me their website with it saying they are there with photos’ I then would say OK you’re right the far left are over there .
I then would wonder why are they over there and why was obama quick to get rid iof him and why did obama go to that city and now two years later it falls down into chaos.
I then would wonder why unions were collecting money for the overthrow and the wonder why Ayers etc have been over there for some time the last two years.
I then would wonder why Soros has put himself into this.

Hey but that is me, I like to learn and understand why everyone is telling me the same thing.

Okay, sounds reasonable...btw, talk about knee jerk reactions...have you been reading the posts here with people overwhelmed by their fears?

No offense, but they're right to fear. It was the radicals who incited the rebellion. If the people did it themselves, that would have been better. Because the U.S radicals and radical muslims are pushing the buttons, no one knows how the Egyptian people will react. Today, they could cave and get lost in the radicals hell hole forever, because they're getting hungrier and hungrier by the day. Who ever feeds them at the right time will win.
This is a dangerous situation for the non Islamic countries of the world. Pins and needles are all over the place.

BlueLancer, you are not only confused but really delusional...you appear to be the one that is fearful of risk for liberty. I am thinking of Ben Franklin’s quote regarding that very subject.

We are so screwed with kids in power right now, we maybe have to camp outside the white house in our millions to get rid of these radical lefty nuts living there

when fear overcomes judgement...we all lose. Striving for liberty is a good thing...especially in the Middle East. It is the ONLY chance we have of avoiding real disaster that will cost literally millions of lives in the future WHEN terrorists groups get wmd’s and we don’t know which nation gave the weapons to them and they destroy a couple of large cities.

What is happening right now has been part of the overall strategy by President Bush...it has risk, but less risk than not having what is happening now.

If you let the media run you, you don’t deserve to have power. The only way to win is to refuse to play their game. Declaring open season on foreign journos was the best move they’ve made yet.

These people are idiots. What has changed besides a figurehead?

Funny, we now consider the Egyptians idiots, but we liked their dictator of 30 years...lol

Well, Oboma is about to give ANOTHER speech - again. I suppose he'll be taking credit for saving the world - again. That man has no idea what's going on, nor do the Egyptians care about what he has to say. They're giving him their shoe (like us giving him the middle finger).

To me, this is a beautiful thing. I don’t hear islamic chants, marxists flags...in fact I see a poster that says “Mission Accomplished” on it.

This is the culmination of President Bush’s strategy in the Middle East from day one. It is the only thing that has a chance to defeat the terrorists without great loss of life. Of course there is risk, but the alternative is definite disaster.

I am hopeful and praying for Egypt!

OK, W, I give you this much. Maybe for today we can be happy that the ‘gyptians feel free. Let tomorrow deal with tomorrow’s troubles. I feel queasy about this, but you’re a daisy if you’re right.

Allegra, if you have time, would you mind giving me your views on the situation in Egypt on this thread?

I hope and pray that the Egyptian military will follow through on its stated intention to "guide the country to greater democracy," but having seen or read about so many similar revolutions ending in an even more autocratic style of government, I'm somewhat ambivalent.

I suspect Iran is behind some of this and will throw their support (and funding) to the Muslim Brotherhood. Unless the Egyptians are willing to fight hard for their freedom, I'm afraid this may become another Islamic "Republic."

I cannot convey how much I hope I am wrong on this. The next few weeks should give us a better snapshot of which way this will go.

I hope and pray Obama handles this well, that is the weakest link I see right now.

At this time on Fox they are interviewing celebrators and the reporter is asking them what they want...to a person they are saying FREEDOM!!! Not, socialism, not islam...they are chanting FREEDOM!!!

I just witnessed on Fox News a reporter down on the streets with the crowd and he was asking them why they did this...to a person each said for freedom, then the crowd began chanting FREEDOM, FREEDOM...

There is always risk in overthrowing tyranny...but there is no way any reasonable person can throw their support to the tyranny over risking for the liberty of the people...it is morally wrong and intellectually misguided.

The only poster I have seen in the crowd read “Mission Accomplished” where did I hear that one before?

There's some chanting, but not all are doing it. That's a plus.

When it comes to the radical leftists, they slither like serpents. They don't want to be seen here. It MUST look like the Egyptians are doing it all by themselves. (That's why the majority their organizations are small and spread out - with cute little names attached to them. They fly under the radar that way. They're less noticeable. And, they can collect more government funding without getting caught.)

We have to defeat them over there and the most humane, efficient way to do that is by helping bring democracy and freedom to the people...people who are free and prosper do not usually want to kill innocent people or surrender their lives for evil.

Keep in mind that 15 of the 19 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, one of the wealthiest Muslim nations.

Democracy does not necessarily translate into freedom or prosperity, if the people choose to vote for theocracy or dictatorship, which they will if they are more concerned about security or consumed by envy, than they are interested in freedom.

ichabod1, I am not trying to foretell the future...so there is no right or wrong about that. My premise is that I, like President Bush and Reagan believe that the power of liberty, granted us by God, is so strong that we have a real shot to see these people free. I will never support tyranny over liberty...and I am dismayed by how many here would do just that. The people of Egypt have the exact same right you and I have to be free...that is what I hope and pray for and support.

They're trashing America, and they have 40% unemployment. They're ripe for the picking. That's the scary part.
The radicals are right there to "catch them", too. "Bow down and worship me, and all the riches of the world can be yours."

I’m a little late to the party, but I’ll claim membership as a “Neo-Con” (if only because my visceral opposition to blind and naive Paleos). Yes, the ideal is to have every country on earth be some form of Democracy (except for straight Democracy, an often misunderstood term, since that would involve needing no government at all, since every citizen would participate in all decisionmaking functions, which would be far too unwieldly in a country without a population that could fit in a small room). Saying that, to blindly turn over a country to a mob is only substituting for another tyranny (look at the fiasco that occurred when the French monarchy was felled at the end of the 18th century).

I support(ed) Mubarak because of all the current alternatives, his remaining in place was the best, especially where stability was concerned and preventing the rise of another Iran based on a deranged Satanic ideology. Placing a Republican Democracy (my personal preference) can ONLY work if the populace is educated on what it truly means. It doesn’t work in parts of our own country because the residents in given areas don’t understand what it means and only seek to leech off of it and drain it dry. They “choose” individuals who are corrupt and placate their supporters via freebies at the expense of other, more responsible citizens. They also whip up their thuggish supporters against the good to keep them in power by blaming the latter for all that has gone wrong in their fiefdoms. You can also classify that as “Democracy”, too, but that is nothing to emulate.

I’ve been personally sickened by the media coverage of Egypt and it’s leftist slant on the situation, siding with the hordes, mobs and Satanists against a stable regime that holds a tenuous grasp of peace in the region. Either they are willfully stupid or willing useful idiots for the proliferation of evil and the death and destruction sure to follow. I think it’s a bit of both.

In the end, Mubarak’s abdication is no victory for Democracy in the positive sense of the word, but a true victory for the ugly face of evil tyranny that has spread like a cancer in that part of the world using “Democracy” as its veil.

I am sorry, but I respectfully disagree with your assessment. All the evidence I see on tv (the actual people) appears like they did this for Freedom! I have seen no evidence of islamic fanaticism, marxism, or other nasty things...this is pure, unadulterated freedom loving people risking all to throw the chains of tyranny off themselves.

I am more interested in what is in our own national security interests. Were I president I would probably have sent in the marines already, or at least had a landing ship right over the horizon.
