Suez Canal Eyed by Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood for Shutdown

It is perhaps one of Israel's worst nightmares that the Muslim Brotherhood would come to power in Egypt and shut down the Suez Canal. Such a notion would also apply to United States and much of the global economy, seeing as not only is oil shipped through the Suez, but so are items encompassing about 8 percent of globally traded products, according to a Tuesday World Net Daily article. Nevertheless, the concern regarding threats to the Suez Canal became more of a reality when it was made known that several members of Hezbollah reportedly escaped from Egyptian prisons. Some of the members are suspected of being a part of the Iranian Revolutionary guard and of having a network that assists Hamas members in the Gaza Strip.

WND also noted that, "Hezbollah-Iranian agents in Egypt were working with al-Qaida to plot attacks against tourist sites, particularly those known to be popular with Israelis." About 80 cells have been set up in Egypt over the past 2 years, and "The goals of the cells operating inside the country include plotting to destabilize the Egyptian regime to advance Iranian interests, planning attacks against tourist sites with Israeli casualties in mind, aiding Hamas in Gaza and establishing a base of Iranian operations along the strategic Suez Canal." In addition, on Tuesday, "Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah expressed vocal support for the protests targeting Mubarak's regime."

China should take a million men in their military and send them there to protect the canal.

....World Net Daily Reports

I’m sure WND’s sources in the Muslim Brotherhood are impeccable.

SuperTankers can't go through the Suez.

I don't think the US is too effected by the closure. Bernake and Zer0 are doing way more damage to the US economy.

It could be a problem for Somali pirates though.

Which will “necessarily” cause energy prices to skyrocket, making our emperor smile.

Not directly but any cost increases seen in Europe will be reflected here pretty quickly as markets take advantage of the artificial increase in demand.

I can’t imagine a more cogent reason for Europe going to war than a shutoff of petroleum from the Persian Gulf due to closure of the Suez Canal.

There are those who will gain by its closure. The Suez Canal closure would definitely favor the Russian and Georgian economies, as they control oil pipelines coming out of central Asia, which cross their nations.

But I don’t see any good coming out of this for Egyptians, as this will adversely affect their economy, costing jobs and tax revenue.

Exactly. It’s happened before and the world didn’t stop spinning so I’m not going to get too excited about it. Besides, if the Muslim Brotherhhod does take over Egypt then the Suez Canal will be a cash cow for them and maybe we might want to see that money spigot shut off anyway.

I always thought Bible prophecy would mean that millions or men in the army would be attacking USA

but China has millions of men and I can now see them going on a ‘crusade’ to protect their emerging economy and wiping the uzzie threat off the earth

The bible talks about the final war fought with wave after wave of millions... this is the first time in histroy there has BEEN that many available to do that.

A China-USA alliance would be sweet if we both take over control of the world. and we owe them too much money for them to attack us, OR for them to let the muzzies try to destroy us.

I think this would make a great fiction book
