Former Minnesota GOP Chairman Ron Carey, who served a brief stint as U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmanns chief of staff, has told the Associated Press that she's not ready for the White House.
The quote, coming on the eve of Bachmann's keynote speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., is not likely to help her in Saturdays presidential straw poll, which also includes former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
"While she passes the conservative test, my opinion from my association with her is she's not going to be an electable candidate for us," Carey told AP reporter Brian Bakst.

I was going to post that was a little young IMO but then I saw she’s 54 years old. Wow. She’s very well preserved. I thought she was in her early 40s.
How brief and did they part on good terms?
Well, to be fair, a current employee who expressed that opinion would be an "ex" pretty quick.
Not everybody, despite their political beliefs is ‘ready’ or more importantly, ‘electable’ to the Presidency.
Michelle Bachmann is one of these at present. There are people that need to ‘lead’ the movement...but not everyone of them needs to be, or can be, President.
Do I like Bachmann? Yes. Do I like her political stance? Yup. Is she electable for POTUS? Ummm...no. Not now. That doesn’t mean she isn’t useful or an unimportant part of the movement, but she isn’t there yet. It’s not a put down, it’s reality. And, it has nothing to do with the fact she’s a woman.
Before the last POTUS election, how many considered Palin a POTUS candidate? Really?
If we want to advance conservatism, we need to nominate and elect someone...not take fliers. Stop assuming someone is Reagan just because they’re a firebrand Conservative. Find a conservative that has national prominence, and let others, like Bachmann and Palin have their moment when they’ve shown that they are relevant NATIONALLY.
And stop comparing ‘our’ candidates ‘experience’ to what Obama had...because we aren’t going to get the support of the media like he did. Fact of the game, our candidate needs to better...just the way it is.
Is that a word?
I think he means "whiney." "Whinny" is what a horse does.
On Ward with RINO Kill, the necessary Operation Success required to restore Our Precious Republic! IMHO
Face it all Dims are ready to be president. No GOP or conservative is ready to be president particularly if they are female or a minority.
She’s a Conservative Jewel. The leftist/socialist/muslim movement needs to be bulldozed from our shores so it can wash back up on the a$$hole of our planet, Africa.
“How brief and did they part on good terms?”
Not sure, But suddenly, this unknown entity breaks on scene.....
Wondered who was really behind this dope.
These dweebs who fancy themselves as the powers-behind-the-curtains really infest the Republican Party, don’t they?
Yeh she’s not ready but Obama was. Get real. The woman is more informed and articulate on the subjects of the day than Obama ever dreamed of being.
Disgruntled former employee?
Or defender of RINOdom?
You mean she sounds like Trigger?
You probably meant "whiney" or "whiny"
“my opinion from my association with her is she’s not going to be an electable candidate for us”
A highly suspect claim. We’re supposed to think there’s something he knows about her personally that the public doesn’t know. But “electability” is always based on public perception, not unknown personal matters.
What Carey is really saying is “I don’t want her to be electable.”
Claims of “unelectability,” especially this early, without exception, are motivated by political opposition.
“Is she electable for POTUS? Ummm...no. Not now.”
Assuming you’re sincere—this statement is groundless.
What is thought to be known about “electablility” always proves wrong at the ballot box.
I agree but on the other hand if she somehow was elected I'm pretty certain she would walk the walk.
Beck: Is the Republican Party politically assassinating Bachmann and Palin?
It wouldn’t surprise me.
