The brakes will easily overpower the engine on any regular street car, provided the operator uses them properly if the throttle sticks. This has been shown numerous times in testing.

Here is my own informal testing, done around the time of the original incidents.

This whole stinking business took place while negotiations were going on over the number of Marines in Okinawa. As soon as the Japanese caved (and the prime minister sacked for going back on his promise to move the base) suddenly Toyota automobiles started working normally again.

No one is buying GM except government . GM is a communist company owned by the government and the over paid workers. Toyota was sand bagged real bad to increase sales at government motors. Toyotas are great cars. Gm cars are crap.

I guess we all can rest assured now that Toyota has paid their huge monetary tribute to Obama...I wonder if it was cash, concessions, or just plain knee-pad action.

In my wildest drunken binge drinking session, I’d still never buy a GM car....I don’t care if it came with a two-dollar whore, or a 2 grand call girl... GM, Chrysler - choke on them.....

I don’t really know what the quality of GM cars is right now, but I will not even consider buying anything made by GM unless and until there is no connection between them and the government, for starters. Even if they broke the bond with the government I still would have a problem buying from a company represented by the current socialist unions. They don’t care who else they hurt in society as long as they get theirs. I have a very hard time with that.

Good for Toyota. Now if they will just bring back the Supra with a 400+hp twin-turbo V6. Zoom-Zoom.

There was never a thing wrong with Toyotas, and anyone with half a brain knew it. This was Zero’s doing, timed to drive customers to the new Government Motors.

Toyota agreed in September to pay USD 10 million to settle legal claims from the family of a California state trooper and three relatives killed when their car, a Lexus ES 350, raced out of control and crashed near San Diego in August 2009.

I need to get me some big, chunky floormats.

“which one was the one with the State Trooper?”

The driver was a California Highway Patrolman. He was driving a loaner car. He and his entire family were driving north on a new freeway that ends at an intersection in Santee. They ran out of freeway before they ran out of gas. Everybody inside was killed. Very sad.

I have a couple of Priuses. They have performed flawlessly. You can push in the Park button or you can just power it off and it goes into Park automatically. I have a Prius with about 150K miles, no battery issues (I did just have to replace the standard battery, like all cars have, after 5 plus years), no brake work at all, thanks to the regenerative braking, no problems at all.

My only issue is that some people think I am a lib because I own them.

Personally, I’d rather see a V8 Supra. :) OTOH, maybe they won’t feel the need to bring back the Supra now that they’re gearing up to build the LFA...
