Palin says Obama's policies have U.S. on road to ruin

Republican Sarah Palin said on Friday an explosion of government spending and debt under President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats had put the United States on "the road to ruin."

In a tribute to former President Ronald Reagan, the potential 2012 White House contender said leaders in Washington had lost sight of the values that made Reagan a Republican icon and a hero to conservatives -- a belief in limited government, low taxes and personal freedoms.

"This is not the road to national greatness, it is the road to ruin," Palin said of the growth in government spending, budget deficits, joblessness and housing foreclosures under Obama. "The federal government is spending too much, borrowing too much, growing and controlling too much," she said.

Palin said Obama had revived the era of big government, and she ridiculed the infrastructure spending and investment he outlined in his recent State of the Union speech.

"The only thing these investments will get us is a bullet train to bankruptcy," the 2008 vice presidential candidate said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California, part of two days of festivities marking the late president's 100th birthday.

Reagan served two terms as president beginning in 1981, and his belief in limited government, reduced taxes and military strength has been the dominant political doctrine of his Republican Party ever since.

His legacy gained new momentum in the last year with the growth of the conservative grassroots Tea Party movement, which has focused on a push for limited government and reduced government spending.

Like virtually all Republican Party leaders, Palin and many of the other possible Republican candidates to unseat Obama go to great lengths to stress their belief in Reagan's principle.

But Palin said the Republican search for the next

Really, I don’t know of a single poster on FR who has shown themselves to be more liberal than you. I just don’t.

Check out my post 126 and his response to it.

He's being dishonest by half. He has worked for Keyes in the past, and would sign up in a minute for Keyes if Keyes expressed interest in running in 2012.

But because he is not at this moment working for Keyes, we're raising strawmen by mentioning his past Keyes pimping in the context of his trolling on this thread. Right up there with parsing the meaning of 'is'.

But anyone with any familiarity with EV's posting history knows what his underlying motives are here, even if he isn't honest enough to admit it nowadays.

Well who do you support?

And can you offer some specifics as to why he/she is better than Sarah and what they have definitely proposed.

It’s easy to propose a bunch of stuff when you don’t have a chance in hell of winning a nomination and can just toss eye-catching stuff around at will.

But a serious candidate, such as Sarah, has to be serious.

And now, it’s farewell to you for me, also. You have successfully hijacked and ruined another nice thread.

Congrats.

Hardly surpised you have fallen to the Clintonian level of parsing your support for Keyes - since you are not actively working for him at this moment, your past aggressive support for him is therefore a non-factor in your trolling here.

Pathetic. And the only person you are fooling is yourself.

another nice thread.

All I did was ask for specifics about how she would get us off the "road to ruin." And then the abuse started. It's quite telling, actually.

What is telling is your Clintonian dishonesty on this thread. Just as Clinton said 'no' when asked if there is a sexual relationship with Monica, because at that moment he wasn't having sex, so we are supposed to put aside your past strident support for Keyes because at the moment you are not working for his campaign.

It's pretty sorry that you have descended to this level. But not a surprise, we've long seen where the trajectory you have been on would take you - such as continuing to support Keyes after his involvement in that big border fence boondoggle.

I’m not trying to fool anybody. I post out in the open, as myself, with my real name on my homepage. How about you?

If this is the best the Palin supporters can do, her candidacy is doomed anyway. The left, both inside and outside the formerly grand old party, hates her and will do anything they can to destroy her. And she and her supporters can’t seem to offer any real substance to those who actually understand where the country is really at, why it got here, and what must be done to put it back on the right road.

Criticizing Obama is easy, politically. Hurray. But it’s going to take a whole lot more than that to save America from those who are destroying it.

I haven’t “descended” anywhere. I simply asked for substance.

This is a conservative website, not the Palin pom pom team. Or perhaps you’ve forgotten that?

I'm sorry you can't even applaud her tribute to Reagan and her simple statement that the present policies are bringing ruin the the US. It shows poorly on you and your candidate.
Lakeshark is right, EV. It's really a shame you can't get off your soapbox long enough to give credit where credit is due.

You are engaged in Clinton-level parsing, yet you act like you aren't hiding anything? BWAHAHAHA!

You dodged my question about a potential Keyes campaign. So you are in no position to lecture anyone who is a Palin supporter.

Oh, and BTW, I'm not sure Palin is the best choice. I am open to other possibilities. But I know a weaselly troll when I see one.

Maybe you missed the following. Note the author.

This was at the Tea Party Express rally in Reno, NV last week (Go Sharron Angle!). The lady in the cowboy hat with the sweet smile is my wife Sheila. And that’s Syncro’s left eyeball in the upper left as he focuses his video camera.

Sarah was introduced to me by Sal Russo (leader of the Tea Party Express) who introduced me as Jim Robinson from freerepublic.com. She said thank you for all you guys have done, then leaned forward and gave me a little cheek to cheek hug. I took it as she loves the FReepers and pass it on to all of you!!

Woo hoo!! FR is Palin Country!!

My soapbox? I asked for specifics on what she wants to cut, and what she considers unconstitutional in the current budget. If she’s the “TEA Party” candidate, which lots of folks think stands for “Taxed Enough Already,” how are you going to stop rising tax rates without cutting government?

I’m just asking a common sense question, a fair question, and it has sent her supporters into a tizzy.

So, do you think that post makes FR one unending Palin pom pom party, with never a dissenting word spoken, for the next two years? Is that what you want?

There are plenty of dissent viewpoints on FR about Palin.

But when someone offers a dissenting viewpoint when they have their own underlying agenda, and without admitting openly to that agenda, that rises to trolling. Like you are doing here.

The state budget increased, largely because the increase in the price of oil increased revenues.

The state budget actually declined in her 3 budget cycles, and state savings almost tripled. She put the increased oil revenue money in the bank.
