CHRIS MATTHEWS: "What was our plan for transition for our friend? Did we ever talk to him about it, encourage him? That's my view; character and planning. I feel shame about this. I feel ashamed as an American, the way we're doing this. I know he has the change. I know we're for democracy, but the way we've handled it is not the way a friend handles the matter. We're not handling it the way Americans should handle matters like this. I don't feel right about it. And Barack Obama, as much I support him in many ways, there is a transactional quality to the guy that is chilling. I believe in relationships. I think we all do. Relationship politics is what we were brought up with in this country. You treat your friends a certain way. You're loyal to them. And When they're wrong, you try to be with them, you try to stick with them."

I am ashamed that we have people like Matthews who can call themselves Americans.
It’s odd Crissy, that everytime you open your mouth, I feel ashamed as well.
Piss Matthews having a moment of lucidity? Now that’s a shocking turn of events. Declare a holiday.
Chris, the O administration is fubar, and you shilled for” the One’, admit it.
Now, why should anyone ever listen to anything else you have to say?
“-...there is a transactional quality to the guy that is chilling.-
What does that mean?”
It means that 0 has no friends, only transactions (situations) which make him look good to himself!!
“I’m OK. You’re OK.”
Could Matthews be referring to TA?
TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS?
A type of relating that keeps conversation
adult to adult as opposed to adult / parent,
or parent / child, or adult / child.
The “I’m ashamed to be an American” act is an old, tired and disgusting. Chrissy needs to get a life. Obviously America is not what he expects it to be. Then, that begs the question: What kind of America would make the Marxist Tingler proud?
Chrissy would never have the courage to own up to his Marxist politics. But surely we here on FR can intuit what the—er—man believes in. I’ll start the bidding.
Chrissy Mathews believes:
1. America is not a fair country because everyone is not suffering equally.
2.
Ahem—the jury (figuratively and literally) is stil out as to the citizenship of the man occupying the WH.
I read Matthews statement quite differently. He is not ashamed to be American, as an American he is ashamed of what America (Obama) is doing. I feel the same way. I am ashamed that America would betray her allies, however I am not ashamed to be an American as I know what America is and Obama’s shameful
policies are not America.
Matthews laid the blame for his feelings at Obama’s feet, maybe his eyes will continue to open and he will see what a disaster this man really is as President.
Well, Chrissy, like they say, "character counts." Should have thought of that before voting for a callow Chicago street tough and absentee senator for President.
Matthews can’t be ashamed of being an American because he is not an Americn. He is a liar and a lot of other things, but, an American is not of of them.
Wow it’s amazing that according to Chris we, the people of America represented by President Obama, should be loyal to Mubarak who is hated by his people. I can see us being scared of what comes next in Egypt but when you see a chance at freedom and democracy coming down the road you have to hop on. Especially as Americans.
My pleasure. I don’t have a psychology background niether, except for a “101” course while I was in college. Anyway, if you’re old enough to remember Eric Berne, MD, he wrote a best selling book in the 1960’s titled “Games People Play”, where “games” are a series of “transactions” that involve ulterior motives that culminate in a psychological payoff for one or all of the participants.
Games often involve a perpetrator and a patsy. Some of the numerous games he describes are “Debtor”, Kick Me”, “See what You made me do”, Schlemiel”, “ If it Weren’t For You”.
A lot of this is really hilarious, but everyone does it, often without realizing it. According to Berne, The most intense “game” players tend to be seriously disturbed people.
What does that mean?
At times Chris actually finds Barry a tad frightening.
>As much as I would like to give him credit for one thing, I cant think of anything he has done right.<
You know .. I have had many discussions with a ‘friend’ who is a liberal .. I said almost the same exact thing to him about Obama. I honestly and objectively can not say that there was one good decision for our country that Obama has made so far. EVERYTHING he has done has turned to absolute crap.
I wish I could say he did one thing right because it sounds like I am just shutting down everything he ever does and I think that just sound biased. But I am stymied .. not one thing he did has worked. He has been a complete failure.
Maybe i can say he has been consistent? That’s kind of positive ...
>It actually is a term used in psychotherapy.<
meaning what as matthews used it?
I am very interested
Every interview he gives, where he talks about Obama he explains away peoples dislike for Obama by calling them a racist.
meanwhile all it really shows is that he is hung up on race himself. he can’t get passed it. he does hate women, Palin and Bachmann especially. I think he feels very inferior to them and doesn’t want them to succeed because then his idol Obama would be compared unfavorably to them.
He overcompensates too much.
>What is wrong with the CIA, the FBI, the DOS, the DIA, yada yada. <
Well Obama was told about this last year. So it is not the problem of the CIA that did not inform him. As for the FBI DIA and the rest .. they pretty much fall under the jurisdiction and command of the justice department ... or should I say Eric Holder ...
