Fiddlstix, I keep being puzzled at how many people cringe at the thought of killing an animal to eat. Our generation did that the same way Sarah still does. We hunted and killed Squirrel, Rabbit, Possum, Quail, Doves, and if times got really tough, Racoon and Groundhog. We also scoured the woods and fields for edible plants. Dandelion, Poke, Mustard, Water Cress,Cattails, Mint, wild berries, wild plums, Mulberries, Persimmons, Sassafras roots for tea. We were much healthier back then.
I think it’s mostly due to hunting laws....you can only eat “in season”. *sigh* More government help.
Yep! You got it! I practically grew up with a gun in my hands. Hunting was almost an everyday occurrence. Killing animals for food was as normal as could be. If fact it was necessary. I sometimes find it hard be believe how much the world has changed in my lifetime.
I was just noticing that you left out lambs quarters and ground cherries......
But maybe you don't have those where you live.....
