I wondered the same thing! I was watching the live report via aljeeria, or what ever it’s name is, and the people were cheering on the military.

I also saw the military men that were standing out of the tank entrances waving flags.

I’m very confused here!

It is confusing. I think both the security police and the army report to Mubarak, and he ordered both into action. I think the aggressive action against the demonstrators has all been by the police.

And there have been many reports that the army is the most trusted by the people, and also some reporters say the army officers will consider their own long-term best interest in deciding how far to go to keep Murbarak in power.

Lot of Egyptians calculating what's in their own best interest as they decide what to do or not do. Third world cloak and dagger stuff.
