Think about this.

There are a huge number of men and women in this country who have devoted their entire careers and thus lives to defending and supporting this country.

If things get to the point where bad crap is REALLY coming down, then look to the Marines.

Before you answer that, let me remind you of these lines from third stanza of the Marine Corps Hymn:

Sounds like at least tacit acknowledgment of a protection agreement; "You see us safe home, and we'll serve You when we get there, too."
