Analysis: Israel concerned if Mubarak should fall

DUBAI — From Egypt to Jordan and Algeria to Yemen, Tunisia’s “Jasmine Revolution” has begun to undermine Arab regimes that have for decades maintained their control through fear, analysts say.

“The question is who remains,” not which country is next, said Amr Hamzawy, research director at the Carnegie Middle East Centre in Beirut, adding protests could affect most Arab states except for Gulf oil monarchies.

...

But the fear of serious strife in Egypt has set alarm bells ringing in Israel.

“The Israeli strategic community is praying that this unrest in Egypt will fade away and not escalate into a prolonged period of instability,” said Gidi Grinstein, founder and president of the respected Reut Institute think tank.

...

If Mubarak is toppled then Israel will be totally isolated in the region,” said Alon Liel, a former director-general of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and a former ambassador to Turkey.

The unrest in Egypt has also presented the Obama administration with a delicate balancing act, juggling its desire for a return to Middle Eastern stability, its support for democratic principles and its determination to avoid the rise of an anti-U.S. Islamist government in Cairo potentially allied with Iran.

Why, I’m sure this administration can handle it, just like
they handled the situation in Honduras was it?

At least we’ve got Hillery! working on it. I know they’ll
listen to her...

I'm assuming that "a return to Middle Eastern stability" refers to the Pax Romana? I can't really think of any stable period since then.

Go to the bottom of this story for the following statement.

Is this not wealth redistribution and social justice as Barack Obama prescribes?

For decades the Marxists and the Muslims have declared war on Capitalism and Christianity.

From the story:

“”
The Arab protest movements have also highlighted weaknesses and the lack of popular legitimacy of some Arab regimes.

“You cannot run society without offering social justice, without distributing revenues in a just manner and without giving people their political freedom and rights. Nobody can accept that in the 21st century, and Arabs are showing they are no exception,” said Mr. Hamzawy.””

Maybe Israel should send in some security forces to save Mubarak. We should stay clear.

As for the unlikely scenario of regime change, Yoram Meital, a researcher at Beersheva University, said that "even if the Muslim Brotherhood, who have criticised 'illegal ties with Israel,' came to power, the army and the Egyptian security services would oppose it with all their might."

"Even if the opposition is very hostile to Israel, if they refuse any form of normalisation (with Israel), it is not ready to renounce the 'cold peace' between the two countries and take the risk of a new war," said Meital.

I hope he's right.

The majority of American Jews, 50% of Kennedy Catholics, 90+% of African Americans voted for this.

No, this is exactly what O and his handlers want. Complete unrest in the ME which is perfect cover for his muzzi pals to attack and kill Jews in Israel.

On a side note, don’t forget that Mubarak is nearly 83 years old, and even without this unrest, we have no guarantee a moderate will replace him.

He was planning on his son taking over, but apparently his whole family high tailed it to Europe when the protests started.

That is whistling past the grave yard if I have ever heard it. This is just the beginning of a period of turmoil in Egypt. That ass Elbaredei is being pulled in my somebodies well up in Egypt who want to protect the upper class. He will make gassy gesture and only wet the mobs appetite for the impossible. Behind all of the smoke and fire the Muzzy Brothers will maneuver to power. They have a number of silent partners in the armed forces and security apparat who see them as the force that can control the unstable mass of the urban mob. The great domino to fall is the Saudi Kingdom. If unrest appears there and grows the Islamacist are at the threshold of their earthly paradise; the mass of Egypt and the wealth of Arabia. The scenario would be set for a near apocalyptic finale with Israel and probably the US.

and the two other players, Russia and China. There does appear to be a certain order to the whole mess, as has been lain out in the Bible. This accelerates the clock, if unchecked. The next and final move is as stated, by your post, and Bin Laden, if not dead, may certainly appear in Mecca, if all falls into place....imho

Would this make Laden the 12th with zer0 the 13th?

Arabs are a exception.

Did they have the evolution in political thought and philosophy which gave western man his rights and freedoms as contained in the Magna Carta?

Its about the same as the Africans fascination with democracy. They learned how to spell it and pronounce it, parroting the words, however, all of Africa is still driven by tribes. Go inland. What does a chief by day or night want with democracy? It will strip them of their power, property and patrilineage privilege.... how could they accept that?

Arabs are different again with their history steeped in raiding, looting and raping. And a hole lotta murder. They are traditionalists too with all of that endorsed and codified in the Koran.

Freedom and democracy ? There is no room for that in Islam as well.
