Arabs are a exception.
Did they have the evolution in political thought and philosophy which gave western man his rights and freedoms as contained in the Magna Carta?
Its about the same as the Africans fascination with democracy. They learned how to spell it and pronounce it, parroting the words, however, all of Africa is still driven by tribes. Go inland. What does a chief by day or night want with democracy? It will strip them of their power, property and patrilineage privilege.... how could they accept that?
Arabs are different again with their history steeped in raiding, looting and raping. And a hole lotta murder. They are traditionalists too with all of that endorsed and codified in the Koran.
Freedom and democracy ? There is no room for that in Islam as well.
