His best moment came early on: "What comes of this moment is up to us. What comes of this moment will be determined not by whether we can sit together tonight, but whether we can work together tomorrow."
The devil will be in the details on most of what the president had to say tonight, but there is no denying the need for Americans to work together. What many may feel however is that we will need to work against the inclination to spend more
His most hypocritical: "Thanks to the tax cuts we passed, Americans paychecks are a little bigger today."
These were tax cuts he opposed up until the very final moment when it became clear he had no real choice but to pass, largely because of an informed electorate. But the truth was he had desired to eliminate those cuts since his days on the campaign trail.
His most sincere: "The world has changed."
As was evidenced in large measure by the weakened tone and voice of the chief executive.
His most patriotic: "Whats more, we are the first nation to be founded for the sake of an idea the idea that each of us deserves the chance to shape our own destiny."
President Obama has struggled in past speeches with the ability to pronounce overtly patriotic rhetoric, but this line, one of the best of the speech genuinely summarizes the goals of the founders and would have resonated with the likes of past Presidents Reagan, Kennedy. Even Bush.

DOn’t we all make $250,000 a year?
Remember...he read it, he didn't write it...and probably never thought it!
It’s about an $800 savings if you make $40,000,and the employer still has to pay the 6 percent match
I can not see the merit of the high speed rail. It would be a place to hide more bureaucrats.
Why not build more freeways? We do need them and with our growing population, the roads built for the 1970s are no longer adequate to today’s needs.
Another “honest moment” was when he admitted in an offhand way that TSA gropings are to get you enthused about high speed rail.
In response to your post above, I thought Biden did fairly well for Biden tonight. He reminded me of a preacher's wife watching her husband delivering a sermon, all meek and enraptured (to the extent that Biden can focus on anything for very long.)
But what really caught my eye was Boehner. He was a real hoot. I watched him throughout the entire speech and really enjoyed myself. From the beginning, he had that “I'm so bored, and I have to be here” look. He dead panned through the entire thing, only stood up for our troops and I think Rep. Gifford. I thought he actually grimaced on a number of occasions. I actually thought I saw the Speaker of the House making faces at and behind the President's back. Maybe it was just me, but Boehner really looked like he was making fun of the Won. He kept licking his lips, and looked like he was dying of thirst and not just for the water he repeatedly drank. Methinks the Speaker is a bit of an over-imbiber. Bet me, he ran for the bar as soon as he could. And that's his business, but he did provide a bit of comic relief for me tonight and made the dullest and dumbest SOTU a lot more palatable for me. I need a drink myself after Obama’s sorry bit of theater.
We obviously watched the same SOTU and had the identical reaction to John Boehner's body language (or lack of same in many cases). He was indeed quite entertaining with the icy glare through most of the evening.
Just as telling were the moments when he withheld applause. When O'Bambi was lovingly extolling the benefits of a homosexualized military and the virtues of muzzies in America, the speaker was stoic while Burping Biden was whooping it up with huzzahs.
I'm not really a huge fan of John Boehner (partly due to the crying plus he seems a bit too eager to reach across the aisle) but he gained my respect tonight. He showed proper decorum for the occasion but certainly sent the visual indications of what he thinks of the Usurper.
And those would be the Bush tax cuts he's referring to...the ones he ran against?
It sounded like one of Leonid Brezhniv’s old speeches to the Politburo in the Soviet Union.
LOL!
I’ve never heard or seen someone named Kevin McCullough on FNC. Additionally, there have not been any tax “cuts” during the Obama administration.
The absurd claims made the past couple of years by this administration and all of the Dem talking heads that 95% of US citizens got a tax cut is ludicrous! All they did was reduce the federal withholding rate from paychecks. The tax rates did not change, so many people had to cough up more money by the following 15 April tax return deadline.
The recent temporary extension of the tax rates from the days of the Bush administration was also not a tax cut! The tax rates remained the same.
Will we ever have politicians who will tell the truth instead of attempting to “spin” facts to gain advantages?? /rhetorical...
Ubama must have taken ‘lying’ lessons from Clinton. He is what he is, and all the speeches in the world won’t change what he is.
Ubama sees things in terms of a Third World socialist. His father was an African Marxist and his mother a leftist slut. Nothing in his background or experience - far left community organizer, 20 years with the hate-monger Pastor Wright, friendship with terrorist Bill Ayers, shady real estate deal with Syrian (now jailed) swindler Tony Rezko, associations with Louis Farrakhan and black militants - makes him a real American in terms of values or world view. He spent 150 days in the U.S. Senate, about 120 of them campaigning. He spent a few years in the Illinois state legislature voting present.
Ubama’s speechwriters are capable, and he does a nice job reading the words off the teleprompter, but in the end last night’s address was just as forgettable and meaningless as every other SotU address has been. He sold nothing.
That is because he is a punk.
The Marxist is even invoking Reagan. I would not be surprised if he proposed we put Reagan on Mt Rushmore (as a way to get votes).
Here's another clue (/snix).

Obama is baptized in the fire of faith.
Obama's been saved. Thank you, Jesus.
" And I especially want to thank you for bringing me all that
Oolong tea. Tea is very big around here since Nov 2010."
FYI, the Tolley-Bahn operate in Pockee-stahn. Yes, he bombed on this Teleprompter Tour of Clichéville, but he really was pretty good at the funerally, except for reading from his NOTES (Telprompter malfunction?) and the fundamental inappropriateness of campaigning at a funeral to the cheering of the crowd. Thank goodness he didn't dwell on Tucson in the SOTU.
We really need AZ to come through with the eligibility law!
Work together to what end? Must I work together to help others to enslave me?
Absolute and complete LIE!
Federal witholding was increased to an almost identical amount as the 2% SS drop. Utter garbage.
If a 2% cut in FICA were worth a couple of thousand bucks to a worker then that worker is paying over $100,000 in FICA yearly. There’s a miscalculation here somewhere.
It’s a change of 2% in the rate, not a 2% change in the rate.
But others have noted that for that to get you a $2000 tax reduction, you’d have to make $100,000 a year. So that’s close to the maximum you can get back.
I’m surprised they didn’t cap the return at $800. It seems so strange that the democrats passed up a shot at screwing the slightly less poor.
