WEST PHILADELPHIA - January 19, 2011 (WPVI) -- An abortion doctor who catered to minorities, immigrants and poor women was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday.

My point was not to distinguish between types of doctors. Doctors are doctors. Just like cops are cops to many around here. There is no distinguishing between them. When I took my oath as a police officer, I pledged to protect life.

Yea, you did hijack the thread. But since you asked I'll see if I can offer a possible explanation.

Doctors, whether abortionists or not, operate from a standpoint of expertise. That is we esteem them because of their medical accumen.

Cops operate from a standpoint of authority. Most people don't like that dynamic. Especially from over "enthusiastic" cops. I think it's as simple as that. It's the difference between an attitude towards a screw up, and a screw up who is a bully. I'm not saying you are, or most cops are bullies, but I think the bad ones that are (and I've met a few)leave that general impression.

I guess I must have missed the threads that lump all cops into the same bunch. Mostly what I can remember is people don't like cops who throw their weight around. 99.999999% of cops are great. A couple of my favorite shooting buddies are cops. Maybe you can point us to a thread that trashed all cops because of one lousy one. I could have missed it.

Congrats on your new baby! Our almost 6 month old son was a preemie, too. He is now very chubby and full of giggles and energy...we couldn't imagine this while he was in the ICN. The beginning is difficult, but his time in the hospital will soon be a distant memory :-)!

I was pro-life before his birth (he is our 5th baby, 1st preemie), but once you hold, kiss and love a precious little one who could still be in the womb and legally aborted; something in you changes and the disgust for abortion increases.

Where does one begin? Starting with the women who get pregnant by having unprotected sex in the first place, which also puts them at risk for STDs such as AIDS, to the women deciding to have an abortion to end the baby's life, to this "doctor" making millions performing high risk late term abortions on low income women, to those in authority who looked the other way even after he was reported, to some of the babies being still alive after being ripped from their mother's womb and then being put to death by the abortion "doctor" in this manner (and there is plenty of proof via ultrasound that the baby in the mother's womb responds to physical stimulus, including pain)... It's just one horrible train of events, one grotesque horrible wicked sin after another...

It is just so sad and tragic...

I don't know how or why the discussion of police officers came up in relation to this story, but I am sure police officers have to deal with this, and worse, every day...

It seems to me that to be in law enforcement / police work one will have to have a strong unwavering moral compass and a close walk with the Lord God in order to remain uncorrupted and to avoid sinking into a sense of helpless and despair...

Well, your guarantee wouldn’t be worth the space it takes. I, for one, believe that any doctor who performs abortions is worse then a murderer. God Himself will deal with them and any country who allows them to perform their atrocities. I’m not even sure prayer will help this country if they don’t put a stop to it.
