I was on that thread and I admit that I have no problem with selling ad space. I was met with name calling and told I wasn't conservative or was a troll or something.
I have nothing to do with this secret email but I don't consider myself a moron because I don't hate the thought of selling ad space.
The boss (on that thread) explained again and again that selling ads obliges yourself to the sponsor.
And that if the underwriter decides the tone of the site should change, then guess what? It changes. This would no longer be Mr. Robinson's neighborhood.
To me - it's like Motor Trend. They would be outta business if it were not for ads from Toyota, GM and so forth. And as a result...M/T has NO CREDIBILITY as they are nose deep up the wazoo of their advertizers when it comes to car reviews.
Also. Jim has repeatedly said that these FReepathons work. They get the job done. And so why would you want to clutter up this fine website with banner ads, pop-ups, and crap like that
