Hello. You dont know me under this name. For reasons that are going to be obvious soon, I didnt wish to send you this message with my usual Free Republic account. This message is an invitation, a welcome to a new forum called TrueBlueFreedom.com
While I love the people who make up Free Republic, I have many complaints about Jim Robinson and his cronies who run the actual website. Over and over again, whenever somebody has complained or offered suggestions, they have been told by JimRob and others to go and start their own website if they know so much. Well, Ive decided to take them up on that offer.
Ive started TrueBlueFreedom.com for three simple reasons, and once youve read those reasons, Im sure youll agree that we need to make a few adjustments if we want this powerful bastion of conservatism to remain. The first reason is simple: Free Republic is too important to left in the hands of JimRob. Jim and his son John have repeated stated that if just one Freepathon goal isnt met, thats it - Free Republic will be dead. I cant stand the idea of America without Free Republic. Imagine if we hadnt been there when Dan Rather was passing around his forgeries, how different things would be today. Now realize that, as things are going, we wont be around when the next Rathergate happens. We cant allow that to happen, and since JimRob has publicly refused to deal with this issue, we have to take matters into our own hands. My solution is TrueBlueFreedom.com
The second reason is that I believe that free market capitalism has made America great, and that attempting any other system will lead us to ruin. A belief JimRob apparently doesnt share, since he continues to refuse to place ads on Free Republic and instead depend on a PBS-esque donation system. We are not NPR, and we are not a charity why do we raise money like one? For this reason, Ive developed TrueBlueFreedom.com to depend on advertisements. TrueBlueFreedom.com will not depend on donations, instead, we will depend on the opportunities provided by the free market to create a self-sustaining version of Free Republic without the constant Freepathons.
The third reason is that JimRob is, in my opinion, a petty tyrant. How many of you know somebody who was purged? How many wonder if you may be next on the list? If youre neither of these people, consider this: Giuliani was Americas Mayor in 2008. That didnt stop JimRob from purging all his supporters without warning. How do you know that whoever you support in the Republican primaries wont raise JimRobs wrath? How do you know the next purge group wont be Mormons, Jews, Birthers, Pro-Palin, Anti-Palin, and so on? I believe that purging the non-believers and demanding total mental agreement with the Dear Leader is the exact opposite of conservative values, regardless of where JimRob stands on abortion and homosexuality. And for that reason, Ive set up TrueBlueFreedom.com as a place where conservatives who follow the rules will not be banned, no matter how much I disagree with them. Regardless of your politics, religion, or favorite sport team, you will only be banned for breaking the rules. TrueBlueFreedom.com is a purge-free zone.
So, I hope youve read all this, and will accept my invitation. If this seems like something you can believe in, come to TrueBlueFreedom.com, sign up, and start talking. And if you like it, spread the word. Because Free Republic is too important to just let die.
I have been here since long before anyone needed to register to post, to give you some idea of how long I’ve hung around. I lost a nickname somewhere early and chose this one I’ve had ever since.
FR, during that period, has been through many things. I recall the legal threats from media types, and the “invasions” of people whose motives I never knew, but tried in concert to adjust the discussions.
I know that over the years, internal political games have gone on, ones that I know nothing about. I just know that people who were long time posters were suddenly gone, banned.
I also know, since I’ve run forums myself, that you can’t please everyone, and that some people believe themselves to be in charge of everything, and act like everyone else should immediately recognize it.
I have also disagreed with you, and I no longer post my own writing here, because apparently, you don’t like people publishing their own writing here for some reason. However, I find no reason to attempt to recruit anyone here for somewhere else, and recruitment attempts should not be considered a threat.
There exists a free market for ideas, for sites, for users. If you feel threatened by others recruiting, or angered by it, then improve your site until you think that nobody will effectively take your userbase. It’s a free world. Despite the fact that trolls are annoying, it’s generally true that they’re very poor competitors, often being immature in how they run their own site. Or, that the recruiter is simply following ‘whatever is new and hot’.
If I were to offer any advice, I would suggest that you post your rules on what and who is not allowed, rather than just zotting various things to the confused wonderment of the users. However, it’s your site, run it as you see fit, and unless you find your userbase falling, then consider it sufficiently competitive in the world of ideas, and there’s no need to be defensive about what what you do or don’t do.
Hey my dear friend! Carnival is leaving San Diego. I hope all the open borders folks are pleased.
I was not one of the chosen few who received the e-mail. Thank you for all you do!
I’d still like to see the long form as well. Not producing it smacks of hiding something. Not very transparent of him, is it?
You could count on it that if the roles were reversed and it was a conservative Republican who there was question about, the media would have eaten him alive.
The only thing that bothers me more than the question about obama’s eligibility, is the double standard held by the media.
That said, God keeps good accounts. It will all fall out in the end.
And your underlying point is?
THAT Bling is WATER?
It’s good there’s no Edit button.
Can’t lie about what one said previously. Trolls are often found via their posting history. Carved in stone, yeah!
Looks like this thread is going to be revealing too.....
Maybe I should get a tab open with the lightning strike images......
I’m just fine and dandy with FreeRepublic the way it is!
Darn it, I have to go looking for my magnifying glass now... I gave up my psychic powers years ago..:O)
Or touching one’s junk. But of course that’s included under “ignoring the constitution and limits on gov”.
I don't know when anyone in this state with some common sense will take charge and turn things around. *sigh*
The troll sent FReepmails to select Freepers. Jim Robinson posted it in the open for everyone to see. Does that sound like he's the one who is worried?
If I were to offer any advice, I would suggest that you post your rules on what and who is not allowed, rather than just zotting various things to the confused wonderment of the users.
The rules have been posted. The mission statement is on the main page. Click 'Free Republic' at the bottom of the page to go there.
Jim:
To me, it is not a matter of whether or not I agree with all - each and every one - of your opinions, including your opinions about how to manage FreeRepublic.com.
The important opinion I agree with you on is that FreeRepublic is not a collective; it does not belong to “us”, the users, even though we “belong” to it; it is not the property of “us” the users, it is your property; and how you raise revenue for your property is your business and your choice; and all those examples of what your opinion of FreeRepublic.com means, I support.
That is the one opinion that being a FreeRepublic.com user requires us to agree with, or take our daily Conservative connections elsewhere.
