There is a "lasting sense" that the most prosperous in society have yet to shoulder their load in the economic downturn, the archbishop of Canterbury said yesterday. In a rebuke to the rich in Britain, Rowan Williams used his Christmas Day sermon to stress the importance of people working together to rebuild confidence and trust. "That confidence isn't in huge supply at the moment, given the massive crises of trust that have shaken us all in the last couple of years and the lasting sense that the most prosperous have yet to shoulder their load." Williams also warned of hardship ahead and its likely impact on society. "We can and will as a society bear hardship if we are confident that it is being fairly shared; and we shall have that confidence only if there are signs that everyone is committed to their neighbour, that no one is just forgotten, that no interest group or pressure group is able to opt out." The archbishop also referred to the forthcoming royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, which he hoped would help restore the popularity of lifelong relationships. By contrast, the Queen, in her Christmas message to the nation, used the occasion to highlight the importance of sport as a medium that can help build communities. "In the parks of towns and cities, and on village greens up and down the country, countless thousands of people every week give up their time to participate in sport and exercise of all sorts, or simply encourage others to do so," she said. "These kinds of activity are common throughout the world and play a part in providing a different perspective on life."

Define the “Burden” Sir.
Flat
Tax
Nothing else is “fair”.
If the "church" really does believe that socialism is the answer, then that institution really should rot away and be replaced by something new that actually DOES adhere to the Word.
We need to give everyone a reason to vote for lower taxes and not just to shift the burden of taxation of on to someone else.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
This man is NOTHING but a thief who advoctes the theft of earnings from one group to another against the teaching of Christ, he is part of the anti-christ.
Jealousy. Pure and simple. According to the poor, everyone should be miserable. How many problems will that solve? that old saw is from Communism which has been a miserable failure in country after country. It is Satan’s treachery. Whoever was preaching that in a church should be escorted OUT post-haste.
Amen
Ah, the Arch Druid of Canterbury speaks...it must be true.../sarcasm on!
It is not how much anyone is paying in taxes!
It is the SPENDING, SPENDING, stupid.
Let’s stop wasting money.
Go TEA PARTY. Don’t let the idiots waste our taxes.
The 14th amendment demands government treat every citizens equally no matter the rules of society.
If gays can sue for equal treatment by government and the courts say yes, the taxpayers have the equal right to sue.
Every citizen is to pay the same percentage and if free house, school, medicine or food is given to one, it must be given to all.
Is there a tax on wealth in the UK?
“Fair share”? The only “fair” share is an equal percentage, or at least the same rate, as everyone else pays.
Why are the ones telling us that we must pay our fair share the ones that cheat on taxes?
Ah, thank you, thank you very much.
Wayward sheep, not shepherd.
