I don’t like ads. Apparently neither does Jim. As of right now every inch of space on FR is dedicated to FR and conservatism. Why would I want to foul up the clean streamlined “face” of FR with glitzy junk? I honestly don’t read ads and I find them annoying.

I'd much rather see a banner ad at the head of the page than the same three or four video clips that used to recirculate into the top of almost every thread.

Or are they still there? Since I figured out how to kill them oops... don't want to incite violence now...keep them off my screen with Firefox, I haven't had to look at one since last summer.

DJ, this isn't about keeping the forum tidy. It's about rethinking the business model and generating a much-needed revenue stream.

I think I've said at least twice now, that the site could be configured so that paid members would not see the ads, but non-paying members would. As a regular donating member, you'd never notice the difference, but the bank accounts of Free Republic sure would.
